Lymington Go Top Despite Brave Effort From Hythe 2's

A brave effort from Hythe 2's saw them go down by 16 runs yesterday to a strong Lymington side who go to the top of the Division 1 table with 5 wins out of 5.

Hythe 2's chances of avoiding relegation are now wafer thin, and out of their our hands! For the seconds to survive they'll need either Paultons or Hythe 1 to lose their last 2 games with only a few points gained and for themselves to convincingly beat Bashley 2s in our last game.

Lymington won the toss and elected to bat first . All their batsman got into double figures with our old mate Simon Naylor top scoring with 29. However the Green Caps stuck to their task well and reduced the league leaders to 130 for 5. Tom Porter was the pick of the bowlers 1-17 off his 3 overs - a fine effort. Russell Moore chipped in with three catches.

Hythe lost Tom Porter early but the 3 vets all chipped in with good scores to keep the game competitive. Wayne Effeny was run out for 24 whilst skipper Ewan Bell again top scored with 29. Sean Tongs made a useful 27 and young Harry Smith finished 12 not out as Hythe fell 16 runs short - but a very good effort.
