Matty Leads His 1's To Victory
The Big Indoor game of the season and club bragging rights ended in a victory for Matt Howe's 1st Team - But Bellie's 2's took them to the last 7 balls, where in the end experience of the bowlers made the difference.
Bellie's 2's lost toss and was inserted. After a slow start - Sean Tongs and Wayne Effeny gained momentum until Tongs was run out for 12. Effeny wasn't prepared to let todays first teamers have the better of him and took his score to 26 not out (retired). Ewan Bell also retired after scoring a gutsy 26 not out whilst Tom Porter showed how much he's come on as a batsman scoring 24 before being run out. The 2's finished on a competitive 122 for 2 after their 12 overs. Richie Froggett the best of the 1's bowlers 0-23 off 3.
Chasing Matt Howe and Simon Wright got the 1's off to a good start before Wrighty was run out for 15. Mike Bowman soon followed run out for 1 and the 2's were in with a chance. But as they say 'commeth the hour commeth the man' and Rich Froggett entered to hit a very quick 25* retired to put the 1's back in control. James Page didn't last long - run out for 4 but Weallo 17* and the returning skipper Matt Howe got the 1's home with 7 balls to spare, Matt Howe finishing on 33 not out.
A Good game not to one sided the right side won in the end with a couple of good performances from lesser lights (Ewan & Tom's batting) Main difference between the sides ultimately - bowling, the 1's managed to take advantage of the lack of experience from Russ & Tom, whilst Richie & Matt looked class with the bat.
