SAD DAY FOR HYTHE

IF ITS THE LAST TIME WE SEE

PAUL WHITLOCK'S TALENTS

If as his word - Paul Whitlock is now in retirement then here's a quick tribute to his thirty years as a Hythe & Dibden player.

Played for Hythe between 1978 - 2008

- Taken Over 1,200 wickets (inc 590 League Wkts)

- Scored Over 8,300 Runs ( 3,000 League Runs)

First XI Championship Winning Captain 2001

Hythe's Finest Bowler Over The Past 20 Years

Paul started his League Career for Hythe in May 1979 after being spotted by Phil Pick the season before playing Sunday cricket.

Pauls first game he took 6-48 from 24 overs against Southampton University II's in the Southern League Second XI Division and if Ellingham last month was his final game then 10.2-1-36-4 isn't a bad way to go out.

In his first two seasons for the club Whits took 121 wickets (in all games) and even in this final season his bowling figures have been as impressive as ever taking 22 @ 20.22 with an economy rate of 3.42.

His Stats Since 2000 Are Like No Other:

Personally Whits your far to young to retire when you consider Tony Woodhouse was 74.

If people didn't know what you've achieved for Hythe then they do now

If I had your knees and ability I'd play on as long as I can - lifes too short mate.

The club has a huge gap to fill and thats a big challenge for Dixie

But Paul Whitlock will always be remembered as a Hythe Legend

Thankyou
