HYTHE UNDER 13'S vs PYLEWELL PARK 'B'

12th June @ Hythe

Under 13's Cruise to Second Win

Hythe Under 13's made it two consecutive wins with a 37 run win over Pylewell Park 'B'. Both Hythe openers Richard Jones and Josh Mead retired 30 not out to set the green caps up for a decent total.

Hythe won the toss and elected to bat first. Hythe got off to the perfect start with skipper Richard Jones scoring 30 runs off just 27 balls before he had to retire not out. That brought Kieran Chalmers to the crease but it wasn't to be his day and was bowled for 2.

Josh Mead took his innings to the 17th over to reach his 30 not out and retire. Tom Smith was then run out for 6 trying to squeeze a run in the final over. Hythe finished on a competitive 82 for 2 with Zac Miller 0 not out and Nathan Froggett 1 not out.

Against some very tight bowling and some excellent fielding the visitors were always up against the run rate. Hythe used no less than 8 bowlers and they all bowled very tidely which meant it was very difficult to select a best performance. Jones, McKell, Miller and Bidwell all got wickets and there were also catches for McKell and Chalmers.

So 2 wins in 2 and now for Mondays big cup game against arch rivals Fawley.

One person impressed with the team this year is Julien Chalmers. Julien's watched the side progress over the past year and he says ' Having only played 5 games this season I have seen some very promising signs from our under 13 side and many of them improving weekly. Despite currently sitting 11th out of 14 in the South Division I believe they are capable of a mid table position this season and dare I say next season I believe they could be competing very strongly to finish in the top 4!!

Cheers JC lets hope your right
