HYTHE UNDER 15'S Vs FAWLEY
8th June @ Jones Lane
Under 15's Win First Game & Against Local Rivals Make It Even Sweeter
Hythe Under 15's sealed a 14 run win against local rivals Fawley and with it completed a winning double for the Green Caps after the under 11's won up at Holbury. Skipper Jonjo Stovell lead by example hitting 27 and bowling 1-8 off 4 overs. The win was made even sweeter as the Fawley side included three past Hythe players who moved up the road hoping for better things. Well done to Sally and her side now lets push on for that second win
Fawley won the toss and elected to field first. Hythe got off to the perfect start supplied by Jonjo Stovell and Tom Richards who put on 46 for the first wicket.
Richards made 19 but the runs continued to flow with Stovell making 27 and Matt Young 12 not out as Hythe finished their innings on 103 for 7 - the highest score by this group of players at any age group.
Fawley always had a chance as long as young Streather was at the crease. But the Hythe bowlers all chipped in with wickets and could have had more missing the stumps on several occasions. Pick of the bowlers skipper Jonjo Stovell 1 for 8 off 4 overs but there was also a first wicket on his return for Sam Page who will be a good edition to the squad.
Praise to for Sam Mead who held onto 3 catches.
Despite the efforts of Streather 41 Fawley never had enough in their batting to reach Hythe's total and the Green Caps by 14 runs.
