ELLINGHAM II vs HYTHE & DIBDEN 2nd XI

Ellingham Call Up First Teamers To Gain First Win
Hythe 2ndXI chose the wrong week to face winless Ellingham II as the postponment of their First Team fixture meant Ellingham II's were strenghtened for todays game.
Hythe won the toss and asked Ellingham to bat first on a very soft green pitch.
Hythe bowled and fielded with a great deal of effort but without the accuracy and precision required to hold the score down to a reasonable level as Ellingham bolstered by two first team batsmen amassed 259 for 3 in 42 overs. The only wickets to fall were courtesy of a reaction caught and bowled by Greg Woods, a clean bowled by Pete Stevens jnr. and a run out by Wayne Effeny.
In reply Hythe never got going as Sean Tongs went early on and despite resistance from Tom Porter (16) and Wayne Effeny (45) which included two 6’s followed by some nice shots from Greg Woods (14*) no one else reached double figures. Hythe’s innings coming to a close on 101 all out in 32 overs. All in all a disappointing defeat.
