HYTHE UNDER 13'S Vs LYMINGTON 'A'

22nd May @ Jones Lane, Hythe.

Learn Fron The Experience

After two defeats the last thing you want to do is face New Forest Champions Lymington 'A' But Hythe Showed Batting Promise.

Lymington A were the visitors to Jones lane on a cloudy evening in May, but they soon brightened up the evening after winning the toss and electing to bat.

Aided by some short, wayward bowling the first three Lymington batsmen all reached the required 30 runs to retire and heap misery onto all Hythe’s bowlers. Kieran Chalmers was the pick of the bowlers with 3 overs for 14 runs.

After such a poor fielding display, which finally ended with Lymington reaching 164 - 1 from 18; the green caps needed to raise their game in the second half to avoid a complete mauling at the hands of the visitors.

Openers Richard Jones and Josh Mead started swiftly with Richard finding his feet, and the boundary, quickly. Josh went for ‘4’ missing a straight full toss, Kieran followed for ‘6’ caught at slip, but while Richard was free-scoring at the other end the scoreboard kept ticking upwards at a solid rate.

In Zac Millar he found a partner to build a partnership. After a nervous start Zac gained in confidence and also played some nice shots against some quality Lymington bowling. Richard reached 33 runs and retired to applause from the crowd. Tom Smith and Chris Griffin got cameo appearances with the bat towards the end and Hythe finished on 70 for 4 off of 18 overs.

A solid batting performance against a quality team. In past years teams would have been rolled over for less than 40 against such a good side, so the future is bright.
