8th May @ Jones Lane, Hythe
Under 13's Decent Performance Despite Loss.
Hythe’s U13’s lost their opening game of the 2008 season to Mudeford A by 15 runs but impressed with ball with 8 of the side having a bowl. Mudeford were restricted to 71-4 at the close of their innings and was it not for some heavy hitting in the last 2 overs by H Newman and J Bunce it could have finishe much better for the green caps.
Richard Jones and Josh Mead opened the batting for hythe but after a solid start Josh chased a wide down legside and flicked the ball up for the wickey to take an easy catch. Tom Smith followed quickly getting cleaned bowled and when Chris Griffin followed without troubling the scorers Hythe were in trouble at 8-3. Kieran Chalmers steadied the ship and with help from U11 skipper Alex Nicholas regained the upper hand. Kieran falling eventually for 22 Alex for 10. A flurry of wickets in the last few overs with the game now out of sight Nathan Froggett and Niall Marshall made sure an additional batting point was achieved and Hythe finishe 15 runs short on 56-9.
