HYTHE & DIBDEN UNDER 11's
NEW FOREST CUP PRELIMINARY ROUND
Vs CALMORE SPORTS
Monday 19th May
Hythe Under 11's took on Calmore Sports on Monday evening in the preliminary round of the New Forest Cup. For most of the side it was the first time that they had played in an 11 a side game.
Hythe lost the toss and were put into bat for the first time with Toby and Billy opening, both defended well but didn’t push the score along quickly enough. Alex and Harrison were the next two batsmen in; they got off to a slow start but then found some rhythm, both scoring boundaries as well as some good running between the wickets, at 30 runs off the 13 overs they tried to push the score and Harrison was run out for 16 runs, Mitch Parker was also run out before facing a ball and Alex soon followed being caught for a total of 12 runs.
Archie and Ali then added a couple of more runs to see us end at 42 – 6. A low score but we managed to bat out all 18 overs, well done to all the lads. Calmore fielded well, with their wicket keeping Captain on fine form.
With a low score to defend we tried to use our medium pacers to keep the score down, Alex Nicholas clean bowled one of their openers in the second over but this didn’t stop the steady runs that were coming off the bat. Ben Fenton claimed Hythe’s only other wicket, bowling their No.3. Calmore reached the 43 target with only 2 wickets down and 7 overs to spare.
