UNDER 15'S Vs LANGLEY MANOR

8th July @ Jones Lane, Hythe

A much improved performance saw Hythe Under 15's went down by just 1 run to neighbours Langley Manor last weekend.

Langley Manor batted first and struggled to 87 for 5 off their 18 overs thanks to some tidy Hythe bowling. Ben Smith, Tom Richards and Tom Dixon bowled their overs for less than four an over, and Tod Powell though expensive picked up 2 of the 5 wickets to fall. There were catches for B.Smith, H. Smith, R. Melton and J. Stovell as Hythe put one of their best performances in the field.

88 to win at 4.88 an over - Hythe got off to the worse possible start losing Sam Mead and J.Stovell for 0.

Tom Dixon 7 stood around to support Ben Smith in getting Hythe out of trouble. But in the space of 2 overs Smith 12, Dixon and Tom Huxley 0 were all back in the pavillion. But Hythe gave themselves a chance thanks to an important stand between Tom Richards 19 and Matt Young 16*. But when Richards fell and Irvine and Melton were also out and it was left to two Under 13's to try and win it for Hythe. Sadly they finished 1 run short - Matt Young finishing on 16* and Harry Smith 0*, At the end of the day too many Hythe players got ducks and out to silly shots said coach Sally Harding but it was a good effort and the bowlers did very well
