HYTHE 2nd XI Vs WEST MOORS
Hythe 2nd XI's Dream of a League and Cup Double Dashed
Hythe 2nd XI's dream of a league and cup double ended at West Moors on Saturday when an inept performance saw them defeated by 78 runs.
Hythe won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mike Edwards and Rich Bunce were economical but could not make the early breakthrough and so Pete Stevens Snr was introduced into the attack and in his second over bowled opener Johnson with the score on 40.
Stevens took his second wicket in the 23rd over with the score on 71 when Wayne Effeny held on to a good catch at point. However Hythe had no further success until the last over of the innings when Mike Edwards bowled Blandford with the score on 186, West Moors finally closing their innings on 189 for 3.
In reply Hythe lost wickets steadily with the only notable partnership being between Mike Edwards (24) and Matt Howe (38), finally being all out for 111 in the 40th over.
