Hythe's Twenty20 match against the ST.Andrews Church Side was abandoned when the heavens opened with Hythe needing just 7 off of two overs.

ST.Andrews batted first but lost their first wicket in just the second over when P.Smith was run out for 2. Hythe opened the bowling with Steve Miller and Kieran Chalmers both of who bowled economically. Millers 4 overs went for 11 and Chalmers playing his first senior game 17.

At the 6 overs mark the church were 26 for 1 and going ok then they lost 2 wickets in quick succession - Murray bowled by Harry Smith for 10 and W.Symonds caught by Rich Froggett off Chalmers for 16.

The Chairman then came onto bowl and Woody clean bowled D.McGill for 5. A run out as well meant the church were struggling on 50 for 6 after 13 overs. Harry Smith then got the prize wicket of Ian McGill for 0 ( wait till I take the mickey out of him 100 in county 4 this year well done Harry) and dad Pete Smith bowled Hosier for 1 bringing the church innings to a close on 64 for 9 off their reduced 18 overs.

Hythe opened youthfully with Steve Miller and Matt Young and the pair started casually scoring just 5 off the first 4 overs. By the 10th over both openers had been dismissed and Pete Smith at number 3. Adie Page ( James Page's dad ) playing in his first ever match then woke up the crowd with a four and two mighty sixes. He was eventually our for 21 with the score on 52 for 4. Mike Bowman was then joined by skipper Froggett and the pair took Hythe to 58 for 4, needing just 7 to win off 12 balls when the Church was saved from the heavens.
