No 'Big Issue' For Edwards As Seconds Stay Top

Hythe Second XI maintained their place at the top of South West 3 thanks to a top class knock of 79* from Mike Edwards. In the absence of Wayne Effeny, Edwards took on the challenge and got Hythe home with 3 overs to spare. His innings included 2 sixes.
New Milton batted first and struggled against the home attack who all bowled economically. Chalky White took 3 for 34 off 12 but it was again Edwards who was the most economical - bowling 12 overs 1-22. Despite the tidy bowling Hythe only managed to dismiss 7 of the New Milton batsman who finished on 136 for 7 off their 42 overs.
In reply Hythe lost both openers early and when Wright went as well Hythe were looking edgy, but Ewan Bell 16 steadied the ship with Edwards and though Hythe lost 3 more wickets in the process it was Edwards 79* who saw Hythe home and back to the top of the league.
If the run is going to continue however, then other batsman are going to have to come to the fold.
