HYTHE UNDER 11's PUT UP REAL FIGHT AGAINST THE BIG BOYS

Hythe and Dibdens under 11’s played their 1^st ever 11 a side cricket match at Totton Monday night and did not disappointa large crowd.

Fielding 3 players who had never played an 8 a side game before never mind the real thing Hythe battled to the end but to no avail, as the larger club moved into the semi finals with a close fought contest at the old BAT ground…..

Hythe batted 1^st and set a modest total of 46-4 Jason Shorto scoring 14 runs not out in Hythes alloted 18 overs supported by Marc Reid 6 and Richard Jones 4. As you would expect the Totton bowling was straight and accurate at at times better than anything the guys had faced before…. Hey thats the A league……..

The coach said 60 required , we got 46….Kieran bowled 4 from the start and did not disapoint 2 for 8 of 4 overs. Richard Jones 2 for 13 of 3 and when the impressive Ben Pinkney was bowled for 13, game on . Totton 30 for 6, 6 overs remaining both sides could win it.

Balls passing the edge…..Passing the leg stump, passing the off stump, possible run outs the game had it all in the final stages but in the end Totton came home with an over to spare and reached 47 with 6 wickets down……………

It’s always a good feeling when an opposing coach from a large set up club like Totton states we have some talented lads playing for us. At the end, I told the team I was as proud as punch we gave such a large club such a good game and that for a few overs they were rattled, and we still have to play them again in the 8 aside format…it should be closer still……….
