HYTHE & DIBDEN CRICKET CLUB
UNDER 13'S Vs PYLEWELL PARK
SCHOOL TRIP HANDICAPS UNDER 13'S
With half the usual team on a school trip to Bude the opportunity arose to give some of the new lads a game, with the addition of Jason Shorto from the U11’s to help. Hythe bowlers did well to reduce Pylewell to 85 all out but again it the batting let us down and apart from Harry Smith 33 the batting folded to 63 for 5.
Hythe won the toss and fielded first. Todd Powell and Harry Smith took 3 wickets a piece off of their 4 overs, leaving Pylewell 6 wickets down after 8 overs, giving Hythe a great chance of an upset. But Pylewell rallied to make 85 all out.
Nick Shrive took two wickets and Matt Young took a catch and two stumpings. Lee Phillips and Johno Shorto also got catches and Sally praised the lads for a good all-round fielding performance.
In reply Hythe got off to a bad start when Matt Young was caught for only 3. Todd Powell who was the start with the bat last week was bowled without scoring and Hythe were in big trouble.
Wickets continued to tumble and if it wasn't for a strong rear guard from Harry Smith the score could have been embarrasing.
Smith made 33* out of a final score of 63 for 5 which left Hythe Under 13's losers by 22 runs.
But full praise to the lads for giving it their best shot despite being handicapped with so many away.
