A Comfortable 115 Run Win & Hythe 2nd XI Go Top
Hythe 2nd XI took just 17 overs to bowl Sway out and knock them off the top with a comfortable 115 run win at Jones Lane and in the process have gone to the top themselves.
Sway won the toss and asked Hythe to bat first on what is still a soft pitch which made stroke play difficult. With this in mind a watchful top order set about accumulating runs, Sean Tongs (39) and Mike Edwards (33) were the top scorers but each batsman contributed, either reaching double figures or being not out at the end producing a very competitive total of 174 for 6 from 42 overs.
In reply Sway started badly losing a wicket from the first ball of the innings. This started a collapse as Hythe bowled straight, held their catches and kept the pressure on the batting side throughout. Sway were finally all out for 59 in the 17th over giving Hythe a victory by 115 runs.
For the fantasy league and willow and stumpy competitions:-
Catches were held by Gary Howe, Matt Howe and Rich Bunce. The two run outs were by Ian White and Sean Tongs. The stumps were hit by Wayne Effeny three times and once each by Rich Bunce and Mike Edwards but no 6’s were hit in the game.
