Hythe Back With A Bang  

Hythe were back to their best putting last weeks disappointment firmly to rest with a great 6 wicket away win at Redlynch with Paul Whitlock, Richie Froggett, Rob James and skipper Simon Dixon all turning in fine performances.   On winning the toss Hythe skipper Si Dixon had no hesitation in inserting the oppo and the Hythe bowlers got on top from the start, Nardus Grobler made the initial breakthrough with the score at 14 before Rich Froggett continuing his fine form struck 3 times in two overs as the home side slid to 18-4.

Redlynch opener S.Fox 17 and M.Elkins 14 helped take the total past 50 before somewhat surprisingly Dixon brought on Paul Whitlock who is struggling with back problems and was not expecting to bowl but Whitlock soon removed Fox with an excellent caught and bowled effort, Ben Kendrick then had Elkins caught by Froggett at 62-6, Redlynch youngsters J.Dorington 10 and J. Baker 11 played some shots before both falling to Whitlock and when Whitlock struck for a fourth time the home side were 96-9 and shortly afterwards Kendrick finished the innings of bowling T. Emm for 10 as Redlynch were dismissed for just 112.

In reply Hythe made a solid start with the Rob and Kev James taking the score to 27 before Kev was adjudged lbw but Skipper Si Dixon and Rob James both playing well took the game away from Redlynch with a 43 run partnership before James was also given out lbw for 33, Simon Wright joined his skipper and took the score up to 99 before Wright was caught on the pull for 12, Dixon meanwhile was in no trouble at all and guiding Hythe home, although the visitors still had time for one more lbw as Kendrick also fell that way for Emm's second wicket but Dixon's quality unbeaten 46 saw Hythe to a comfortable victory with best part of 20 over to spare.
