SUNDAY / FRIENDLY CRICKET.
Sunday May 6th Vs FIFTH ARMS (PORTSMOUTH)
Hythe Cruise to 8 Wicket Win
Firstly thanks to the First Arms for making the trip up from Portsmouth to fill the vacant fixture left by Merlin who pulled out because of the Saints.
The experience of a Club Side vs Pub Side told in the end as a good mixture of Hythe's experience and youth accounted for Fifth with 21 overs to spare after bowling the visitors out for just 116 and then losing just 2 wickets in reaching their total.
Hythe bowlers Nardus Grobler & Rob James soon had Fifth in trouble with Grobler taking 1-9 from five fiery overs and James taking 3-39 from 8 overs, the Miller boys combined for a wicket caught Darren bowled Steve, bit of a surprise there then, but then Darren hung on to another catch and picked up a wicket to boot. Ben Smith then removed the lower mid order picking up 4-27 as the visitors were shot out for just 116.
In reply Hythe lost Whits early for a rare 0 and Al Taylor for a sprightly 24, before Tom Porter 40* who continued his fine form and Sean Tongs 37* getting back into form took control and saw the home side to victory in just under 20 overs.
Toss Won by Firth Arms.
