ANOTHER MATCH FROM WHIT'S VAULT
Froggett's Big Day.
ANDOVER III vs. HYTHE & DIBDEN
at London Rd Andover on 26.05.01
2001 and the undefeated 1st XI arrive at Andover, confident of another win, well Hythe got the win thanks to a superb bowling stint from Rich Froggett who took a career best 8-12.
Andover won the toss and elected to bat, they put on 30 for the first wicket of which most of these were extras, as Eugene Burzler struggled with his line and length. However once the first wicket fell to Froggett wickets tumbled regularly on what was turning out to be a tough track to bat on.
Froggett took the first 5 wickets, before skipper Paul Whitlock who had replaced the wayward Burzler chipped in with the 6th wicket with Andover's score at 46. Froggett though was not finished quickly taking another 3 wickets leaving Andover in complete disarray at 48-9, and Mike Edwards finished off the innings at 54.
If Hythe were thinking about a 10 wicket win, hopes were quickly dashed as Hythe made heavy weather of chasing the small score slipping to 36-6, before Sean Tongs & the skipper saw Hythe home with some sensible batting and to a 4 wicket win which kept them top of the table.
