SKIPPERS REVIEW 2006 - MIKEY B ON HYTHE 2ND XI
The Second XI had a fairly successful season with a record of 10 wins & 4 losses, which resulted in us finishing 5th.
The season started badly with two poor defeats against Champions BAE Systems and a very poor performance against our local rivals Fawley. This result without doubt my worst moment as Second XI Skipper.
This though proved to be the galvanising point of the season along and with the return of Wayne Effeny brought improved results and a 6 match winning streak.
The weather did little to help us during the season and may have cost us a chance of promotion. However promotion hopes were dented with a poor performance at Pylewell Park then ended 2 weeks later when the wheels fell off at Bashley as we were unabe to defend 241.
Pleasing performances of the season were Sean Tongs and Matt Howe's batting 676 & 295 runs. Wayne's performances with the bat and Chalky again lead the way with the ball 28 wkys. Steve Miller also showed a massive improvemnet and the teams attitude was always good.

The colts that played thoughout the season did well, and didn't let anyone down and were a great credit to the club.
Next season promotion should be a realistic ambition, however it is still a tough league to get out of and shouldn't be seen as a certainty. It will take the same sommittment from the players and the club as a whole.
Thanks to Tonya and Ann for all their help and anyone else who helped.

SUNDAY XI REVIEW
To start with I would like to say thanks to the following people :-
Steve Chiverton - for all his hard work in organising the fixtures for this year - he has done an excellent job.
Sean Tongs and Mike Bowman for working hard to provide us with a superb wicket throughout the seaaon.
Becky Howe for scoring for us on a Sunday both through the exciting games and the frustrating ones, and last but not least, to Tonia and Ann for providing us with top class teas all year.
All in all on Sundays we had a good season with 13 wins, 11 losses and 2 draws. Well done to the senior players who supported the colts throughout the year.

Robbie James Top Sunday Bowler |
Congratulations are due to Matt Howe who won the batting award with 14 Innings and 353 runs - an average of 44.13.
Rob James ( or Tinky Winky as he is known ) took the bowling award for the second year running - 69 overs and 21 wkts , an average of 21.10 - how does he do it?
I believe that the main aim for any sunday side is to help bring on the colts, and we have certainly accomplished that this year with Russell Moore taking 14 wkts with an average of 14.57 and 15.22 with the bat.
Other colts who have also done well :-
Tom Porter - 6 wkts at 21.33 and 77 runs
Ben Smith - 3 wkts at 25.67
Lee Powell 6 wkts at 21.33 and 41 runs.
I am sure that it won't be long before we see them all playing key roles in the Saturday sides. Beofre we leave the colts and the statistics - can we just remind ourselves of Matt Stark and his first ever senior wicket - bowling out first team player Dave Guymer for a duck.
As most of you already know - I will not be staying on as skipper as I am now living too far away to help but, if asked nicely, Tonia will carry on with the teas when I am playing.
So, good luck to the new skipper - please support them positively on the field rather than moaning at them - it really doesn't help.
Thank you to everyone that took part in the organisation and the playing of Sunday games - I beleive that the attitude on the pitch has for the most part been excellent and as a result, the majority of teams want to renew their fixtures for the coming season.
Thank you
Rich Bunce
