HYTHE SUNDAY XI VS TROJANS
Sunday 30th July
Toss : Won by Hythe
'TINKY WINKY' STARS AS HYTHE WIN CLOSE ENCOUNTER WITH TROJANS.
You don't see many collapses like the one Trojans encountered on Sunday. Chasing 207 to win they were coasting at 170 for 0 only to collapse to 202 all out. Robbie James took 6 wkts for 61.
Stand in skipper Dave Guymer won the toss and elected to bat against a Trojans side who started with only 7 players. Three more arrived late and Matt Stark from our U 15 colts team volunteered to play for them.
On what proved to be a very good batting track Steve Miller starred with an aggressive 81 with Matt Howe (63) and Tim Bath (31) also contributing to a total of 206 for 7 dec. The highlight in amusement Matt Stark claiming the wicket of the unlucky skipper Dave Guymer for a 2nd ball duck..
In reply Trojans openers enjoyed the flat wicket and put on a stand of 170 from only 22 overs before a super catch in the deep by Tim Bath started the collapse.
Robbie James and Nardus Grobler the shared all the wickets as Trojans were dismissed for 201 with four overs remaining giving Hythe a 5 run victory. Further catches were held by Russell Moore, Ewan Bell, Steve Miller and wicket keeper Matt Howe. Batting for Trojans Matt Stark scored one run.
