UNDER 17's Vs BASHLEY RYDAL
Lee Powell 25
FACING A VERY STRONG BASHLEY LINE UP HYTHE FACED THE CHALLANGE OF GETTING 168 TO WIN. WITH THIS IN MIND COACH - GARY HOWE DECIDED TO REVERSE THE BATTING ORDER ALLOWING THOSE GUYS WHO DONT USUALLY GET A BAT THE CHANCE TO SHINE. UNFORTUNATELY NO ONE TOOK THAT CHANCE OTHER THAN LEE POWELL 25.

HYTHE & DIBDEN COLTS CRICKET

UNDER 17's Vs BASHLEY RYDAL

13th July

Bashley too strong for Hythe so batting reversed to give Hythe's lower order chance to shine.

Toss Won by : Bashley

Bashley won the toss and elected to bat. Hythe bowled and fielded well enough but a much stronger opposition managed to reach a total of 167 for 3 of which only 5 runs were extras.

There were catches from Russell Moore (2) and Tom Porter.

The highlight of the innings being James Page taking his first wicket in competitive cricket.

In reply a reversed batting order gave the opportunity of time at the crease for those who rarely bat. Matt Stark and Adam Talbot in particular took advantage with a stand of 13 runs from 9 overs during which they showed courage and application.

Then Lee Powell (25) showed some excellent stroke play including a six over square leg but he was run out from the last ball trying to achieve a batting point.

Hythe finished on 52 for 7 which on paper appears to be a heavy defeat but in terms of experience gained and sheer enjoyment for the players this performance was a huge success.
