We also moved up to fourth place in the league three points clear of Burnage.
West had the better of the game in the opening phase and went ahead from the kick off. Gareth Eddy made a great break into the visitors half to force a penalty in front of the posts.
Penrith began to use the wind to create their own pressure and scored a pushover try with their first foray into our 22 after 16 minutes. Hooker James Thornton emerged triumphant and fly half Steve Wood added the conversion.
The game remained close for the rest of the half with West looking forward to having the benefit of the wind in the second half.
That was until Wood cleared his lines on 38 minutes only to find the grateful hands of Stu Waites instead of touch.
The West full back ran the ball back and set up the forwards who forced a penalty. Andrew Foreman was quick to take a tap to get the first try of the afternoon with Waites adding the conversion.
Penrith had barely recovered from this shock when Foreman added another. This time it was Gareth Eddy who broke a tackle in midfield and galloped away to set up the older Foreman brother. A sudden turnaround in the score saw West 17-7 to the good.
The next score was an important one, and it once again came from the boot of Stu Waites. Penrith again sent a clearance straight to him and this time he calmly dropped a goal from 35 metres.
He added three more points on 51 minutes with a penalty after Penrith replacement Craig Price lasted one minute before being yellow carded.
West continued to press, but had to wait until the hour mark for Gareth Eddy to finish off a forwards drive - followed just two minutes alter by a typical Gareth Foreman score from a quickly taken tap penalty. Waites continued his 100 per cent kicking record to make it 37-7.
He did surprise everyone by missing his final kick of the day after Gav Robinson finished off after Michael Taylor drew the defence as we attacked on the short side..
Penrith kept on battling and scored two late tries, through replacement Craig Price and fly half Wood, but there was no denying us our third win in a row.
