Hull had arranged a Tongan pig roast for their after match entertainment but for the first 450 minutes of this game it looked like they might not have much to celebrate. In the end it was their contingent of Tongans ansd former professionals like own Chris Murphy who triumphed.
With former Rugby league legend Revita Vikona a massive physical presence in the centre the home side were always favourites and yet were on the back foot for most of the first half.
Tom Dixon and Iain Robinson were superb in the line out for West providing plenty of ball and territory in the first half. Too often the final ball did not go to hand.
When it did both winger Andrew and Colin Cheslin had the measure of their more illustrious opposite numbers.
Paul Moss narrowly missed with two fist half penalties and then, against the run of play, Hull went ahead in the fifth minute of injury time. They seized on a West mistake with full back Martinson racing clear to set up an easy conversion for fly half.

West never recovered from that blow with Hull gradually exerting pressure in the second half, forcing us to commit numbers at the breakdown, and then taking advantage of the space in the backs.
Scrum half White added two tries, with Cameron getting a fourth, as Hull emphasised why they are top of the league.
