Bucks 47 Gateshead 7
Stu Waites After games against several teams 1sts & 2nd Teams the Bucks entertained the first 3rd team to Brinkburn when Gateshead travelled down from Tyneside.
After last weeks hard shift in the scrums this week showed the Bucks dominant up front and they pushed Gateshead off the first scrum of the day.
On 12 minutes skipper Paul Oliver opened the scoring. West won a Gateshead lineout and the ball was spun right, the forwards arrived to punch it on, before it was moved back left. Oldge looped around full back, Luke Mallinson, to take the pass from him and sprint over (5-0).
After 17 minutes West increased their lead when scrum half Stu Waites chipped over a Gateshead ruck for winger Scott Parker to run onto, dribble over the line and drop on to score.
Mallinson converted (12-0).
After 30 minutes the ball was moved blind from a scrum and winger Mark Pearce went over. (17-0)
4 minutes later and West once again disrupted the visitors scrum. The ball was kicked through by Stu Waites, the West back row secured the ball which was then popped up to Karl Graham who crashed over from a few yards out. Mallinson convered (24-0).

4 minutes into the 2nd half West scored again when they pushed Gateshead back over their try line from a 5 metre scrum and Oliver added to his tally as he dropped on the ball. Mallinson converted (31-0).
Oldge should now have completed his hat trick when it appeared harder not to score. This would have been an excellent score after the ball was moved across the field several times and continually recycled. Oldge once again came on a wide loop to receive the ball. For some unknown reason he slid over the line on his knees and the left knee hit the whitewash this side if the corner flag before he was able to put the ball down.
However from the ensuing lineout West spoiled the Gateshead throw and guest Paul Dove, just on at half time, was able to drive over the line and score (36-0).
Gateshead were now able to get themselves on the scoresheet when they managed a converted try (36-7).
Mallinson was next to score for West when he finished off a backs move wideout (41-7).
33 minutes into the 2nd half the Bucks completed their scoring but I forgot to write any details down!!! (46-7).
Im sure someone will let me know!?!
So a game played in good spirits in very poor conditions. West will have to pick their game up for next week when they visit Blaydon alongside the Stags.
