Earlier Chester and Paul Moss had both notched penalties and Moss did reduce the arrears with another penalty on 26 minutes.
We struggled to break down a strong Morley defence, with winger Simon Bradshaw yellow carded on the half hour mark for his third high challenge. .
But it was Mark Chester who increased the visitors lead to 13-6 with a penalty just before the break. .
We began the second half determined to get back on terms and Morley were rocking with skipper Field was the next to receive a yellow card for another high tackle. He was followed three minutes later by Chester who had come in at the side as the forwards were driving for the line. .
This time we did take advantage with Paul Vinnicombe going over in the corner after concerted forward pressure on the line. Moss converted from the touchline to make it 13 all with West looking the most likely to go on to win the game. .
But Morley held out until they were back to full strength and went ahead on the hour with a Chester penalty from 25 metres. .
The visitors could hardly believe their luck when, from the restart, Chester collected and punted the ball back into theWest half. Vinnicombe and Colin Cheslin both went for the ball only to see it bounce off the pair and into the grateful arms of winger Bradshaw. He raced clear before popping the ball inside to centre Neil Murray who ran in to set up an easy conversion. .
In the space of a minute we had gone from looking likely winner to being ten points behind. Morley then handed out a lesson in how to keep a lead as they kept possession as the clock ticked away. .
The visitors were the best side we have faced so far and in the end deserved their win. But we have seen enough to show that we can certainly compete in North One – provided we stop giving away easy points. .
