Usually proud of the excellent standards in the field, Captain Tim Dyer has had a masterplan this season as he has started the 2012 Fielding League.
You may be thinking that the SLBL website already provides stats for fielding, so why do we need to create extra work for the already strained admin team.

Well, the SLBL website awards one point for a catch, and one point for a run out. Tim's idea is far more complex than that.
There will be different grades of fielding excellence, as detailed below:
| An expected catch | 2 points |
| A good catch | 3 points |
| An unexpected catch | 4 points |
| A difficult dropped catch | -1 point |
| A dropped expected to catch | -2 points |
| A dropped snipper | -3 points |
| A bottled catch | -2 points |
| A bottled catch - 'An Adam' | -5 points |
| Assisted run out | 1 points |
| Direct Hit run out | 3 points |
| Easy missed run out | -2 points |
Wicket keepers are not included in this competition, and all points are awarded at the captain's discretion.

At the end of the season, Tim has offered to purchase 2 trophies out of his own money.
1 for the best fielder of the year - The Ruairi Sweeney Award
2. For the worst fielder of the year - The Adam Hilless Award
