True Nomads Supporters

Personally, I am concerned that there has been no news from the club about plans for next season yet. This season was always going to be about survival and rebuilding the Club for the future. We have survived and a lot of rebuilding work has been done from the Academy upwards.

As far as I am aware, no offers have been made to our existing Management team and coaching staff yet and in the absence of anyone with the authority to make offers and induce our better players to stay, they are free after Saturdays game, to join or be poached by other Clubs. Now that we have the basis of a decent squad, that would be such a waste and if decisions aren't made soon, we could very quickly find ourselves in the the same situation that we were in at the start of last season. Already, there is talk on other club websites about who they should go after, eg. Bangor for Dickinson and Bungle.

Is it just me, or am I right to be nervous about the lack of news.

i don't think dicko will be here as his contract has been paid up,it was interesting to see the ex bangor manager at tuesday's game,he now manages leigh rmi,scouting mission perhaps?,it will be interesting to see who signs up for next season,surely we should be putting things in place now rather than go through the scramble of last years close season.

If there is any truth in the quoting of these these ungracious remarks attributed to Dicko on the Citizens Choice website, he clearly wouldn't want to come here next season.

YE DICKENSON AT THE MATCH LAST NIGHT OUT OF CONTRACT WITH NOMADS AT THE END OF THE SUMMER. Has been left in the lurch by the nomads who havent helped him after getting injured playing for them ,no phone calls cut his money etc and no help with his treatment.He said he would be fit in time for euro action!! hope nev has been talking to him he didnt give much away last night,heres hoping!!

re dicko fit for euro action,i thought the song and artist had already been chosen.

blaen, whilst I wouldn't want to have this important thread hi-jacked by the dicko story, I think your loyalty to him and suggestion that there might grounds for his possible ungracious remarks, are almost certainly misplaced.

He went to Australia of his own choosing to get trials for himself and subsequently returned home injured. Since he was on contract with us, I don't know if he sought permission from the Club to go or not, but he certainly departed after Nev and the mass player evacuation happened and we were certainly not responsible for his injury. After missing his presence for the opening games, to question whether the club played him in an unfit state, at this stage, rather casts aspersions on our management and coaching staff. Certainly Ken Price, Jim Hackett and Dicko himself would have all thought he was fit to play at the time. Bobby Hunter has told me in no uncertain terms, that our record of treatment of injured players is second to none.

Only after a lengthy period of time when it was obvious that he wouldn't be playing for us again this season, as owain g has already said, his contract was payed up. I hardly think that there is room for criticism of the club and there is little doubt that had he not have been on contract and unfit at the start of the season, he would have signed for Bangor. Instead, we got 15 min's of football from him in return for one a 1 yr, contract, most of which, if not all, was paid up. Personally I think he did he did rather well out of us.

From the facts stated by Wivey in the post directly above, this all reads true to what I have been told over the season.

To Blaen; quoting your sentence that ended "is in some contrast to the treatment afforded to get Chris Williams back in the side"

I feel I must point out that the situation with Bungles injury was totally different to Adams.

TinTin has business associates within certain areas of the medical industry, one of whom happens to be an expert in facial injuries. Bungle received help because the treatment he needed was something that practically could be done very quickly and at a substantially reduced cost that would ensure Bungle would be playing again within a matter of days.

The treatment Adam needed involved a long waiting period to get to see a specialist. He needed various tests and the treatment he required also needed a long recovery period. This is not the fault of anyone involved with the Nomads board or management and indeed all were as upset as you that he has been unable to play.

Its unfair to suggest Bungle had preferential treatment. Had Dicko or anyone else in the squad suffered the facial injury, then we would have done the same for them in a heartbeat. It was purely coincidental and fortunate that it was a case of knowing the right people in the right places.

Adam Dickenson didn't want to play for us when the nucleus of the squad left. Only a contract and, injury stopped him leaving sooner and, doesn't want to play for us anymore, fullstop. That is obvious to anybody and everybody. So you can't build a squad around players who wish to and, are perfectly entitled to, play elsewhere.

Found this on another thread "from the dressing room"- does this clear it up and seem a tad contradictory? The first answer is from Andy Lee, the second a reply to this from Blaen.

Thanks - the situation with Adam Dickinson is as follows:

Adam unfortunately was injured during our off season while out in Australia and then only managed 20 minutes of our season before suffering another injury that has deprived us of his services for this season. As a contracted player, particularly in light of the circumstances surrounding his first injury, I think we as a club have been very fair with Adam.

When it became evident that Adam would not appear again this season he was asked to consider extending his contract for a further year. Unfortunately for the club Adam declined this offer and wishes to keep his options open when he returns from injury at some point into next season. This in turn has opened negotiations for a settlement on his current contract. That is about as clear as we can be at this time!




T'riffic answer Andy, thanks. I hope that is of interest to other supporters too. It seems unfortunate that Dicko is apparently unwilling to get his head down and prove himself and demonstrate his ability by extending his time with Nomads. I hope he will give this careful consideration before any final decision, and I hope he is getting trustworthy and intelligent advice from whatever parties are influencing him outsuide the club.

He has been a popular and valuable figure at Nomads and had things gone differently last Summer his value in the transfer market might now be considerably higher, as might our position in the league table. The position occupies on the field has been one that incoming players might have found it relativelyeasy to fit in with and provided a 'cohesive' route out of defence into a

I received this email from Jim Hackett today:-

"Hi Bob

Having read the message board regarding Adam and how the club has left him in the lurch following his injury, I'm pretty sure that Andy explained the matter in a previous message board article.

Just to clarify things for the one or two people that have expressed disappointment in our treatment of Adam, I can advise that following Adam's return from Australia, despite his injuring both knee medial ligaments during his independently arranged trial, we arranged to pay for independent physio treatment to ensure his return to fitness. The physio that treated Adam gave him the all clear to return to traing and following four training sessions with the squad, Adam and the coaching staff deemed him fit enough to start the match against Neath. Unfortunately, the injury suffered against Neath was the cruciate ligament, therefore, not the original injury we had been made aware of, this was only diagnosed following an MAI scan organised and paid for by the club.

From the time of his injury the club paid Adam the amount of money due to him under the terms of his contract up until Christmas. In the weeks leading up to Christmas I sat down with Adam and explained that with the club continuing to pay him during the period of his injury and the likelihood of his being out at least for another year which would take him past his contact expiry date, we would continue to support him financially if he would consider signing an extension to his contract. Adam was not willing to extend his contract with the club so I then passed the matter over to the Chairman at the time and he sat down with Adam and negotiated a settlement with him that was accepted by both parties. With the negotiated settlement effectively ending Adams time with the club, we have no reason to continue monitoring his fitness progress, and as the surgery he has undergone was arranged via the PFA, we are satisfied that we've fulfilled our financial and moral obligations to a player that was unwilling to stay at the club.

In Adam's defence, he was allowed to go to Australia by the club, however, it appears that the clubs he attended for trials did not have insurance cover in place, which ultimately compromised our contracted player.

Whilst it's disappointing that Adam is alleged to be making certain remarks to supporters of another club about Connah's Quay Nomads and his treatment by us, as mentioned above, we have acted properly throughout the matter. Unfortunately people reading and writing on your message board have been a little too quick to pass judgement on a matter they obviously have very little knowledge about, so hopefully this message will correct any misunderstanding.

I am disappointed that supporters who enjoy expressing their support for the club, can be so quick to criticise without full knowledge of the facts.

Getting this thread back on track, there is still no news of any plans ahead. This has got to be a very worrying sign. After everything the club has been through in the past year, surely a repeat performance is not on the cards?

Stability is needed now, not in August! Does anyone have any news? I for one am getting worried and it will only be a matter of time before the manager and players assure their own future. An official word from the club would be good?

Hi Tigger Woods, I fear a repeat performance is very much on the cards. Our Chairman/Secretary last spoke to the Manager 10 days ago in not very complimentary terms. He announced he wasn't attending the awards ceremony at short notice and he ignored Jim after the last game. Mr Hunter has left it until the very end of the season before starting to put his own Board- room/Team together. This is the article from today's Flintshire Chron.

THE future of Connah’s Quay Nomads boss Jim Hackett will be decided early next month.

Hackett, writing in his programme notes for Saturday’s final match of the season at home to Carmarthen which Nomads won 4-3, spoke like a man heading out of the Deeside Stadium less than a year after taking over from the long-serving Nev Powell.

Hackett, unavailable for comment as the Chronicle went to press, said that it would be the “last time I’ll be writing in the programme” and that he would like to wish everyone involved with the club “good luck for the future”.

However, it is understood a final decision on whether Chester City’s former head of youth stays or goes is yet to made following the off-the-field problems that have beset the club this season.

Figureheads Ron Morris, Geoff Thelwell and Brian Morris all passed away while John Gray stepped down as chairman, requiring secretary Bobby Hunter to take on the role.

Hunter, therefore, has asked for two weeks to put his off-the-field team in place before presenting his manager with a budget for the 2008/09 campaign."

Personally, I not only fear a repeat of last seasons scenario, but a future far more bleak unless our chairman/secretary starts to communicate properly with important people like his Manager and lesser beings like myself - the official website administrator and you the Supporters. I have never criticised the club or it's officials before, but I feel under the current circumstances, such criticism is justified.

Thanks Wivey for this update. There's been very little news from the club itself on the website, despite questions in the threads. I would have thought the only sensible way now is to build on the lessons and experiences of a very tough season. If we scratch it all out and start again we're heading for divsion 2. Last one out please switch of the lights.

If CQN have any ambition to progress then the people in charge need to secure Jim Hackett and his staff on a long term contracts.

You are lucky to have a man of his coaching and management ability at the club.

Having seen his (and his teams) hard work under difficult circumstances keep CQ in the WPL for another season letting him and his team disappear now would be a travesty.

Got to disagree with you to a certain extent. Although you maybe right about the liabilities etc is it no different for most of the clubs in the WPL? This is about what we have and could easily lose. Wivey is right when he has mentioned about the quality of our staff.
Without them the players will go with them. Jim and Andy have had to bring in virtually every player here since the summer. If we hav to go through a repeat of last summer perhaps CQN may not survive anyway - what's the best that can happen then? The reserve team become the first team for virtually no money but get smashed every week with certain relegation? That would be sad for all concerned.
The biggest tragedy is that judging by performances over the last couple of months of the season we are only 3 or 4 players short of a good squad. I didnt make the TNS game but by all accounts took it to them well?
I'm not sure what we can do but I urge all users to get on this thread and support what we have, there is a seemingly blase attitude about it and we are on the verge of something good.
