Were there any stewards at the game on Boxing day?

how is it that the rhyl support who were up in the stand were allowed to stand throughout the game obstucting the view of any other supporters who were sitting down, they started off at one end, then moved over when rhyl switched at half time,i took my son to the game, and i have never heard anything to rival the obcenities that were being shouted, these were grown men with children in amongst them,it's no wonder they are fast gaining a bad reputation among the wpl, funniest moment to come out of it,they were giving wes some stick, usual stuff, who ate the pies etc,the guy leading the singing, big fat monster with glasses sitting on the rubbish bin, looked like jabba the hutt.

Owain, I whole heartedly agree.

The club chairman had to step in and ask that they sit down due to health & safety reasons but in return was severely verbally attacked......even Tiger's Nan had cause to complain after the 'C' word was being shouted.

Things could have gone pear shaped in a real hurry due to the lack of stewarding.

You can put my name down as a steward if it means getting paid to simply turn up and watch the game !

Tintin, the stewards don't get paid. We do it because nobody else wants to do it and without stewards there is no game, it's as simple as that. By all means if you want to give your time up and do it for free, I/we will happily stand aside and instead pay our£6 to watch the game in peace and get there at 2.25 rather than the usual 12.30 and spend some more, much needed, quality time with my son.

Once again Vince you have stirred up trouble without having the full facts on the issue. If there was a problem at the game yourself or the chairman could have approached one of the three(yes that's three) stewards and I'm sure the matter could have been resolved. But instead we've once again had to air our dirty washing in public. A big well done Vince.

Lets also not forget Vince, one of the stewards was taking care of the raffle etc and another one was ball boying. After this thread I really don't know why I bother now, I might well sack it off, so bring your yellow jacket next Saturday and make sure you get there early to put the flags out etc, Vince.

DR,

'Stirred up trouble'??? We were supporters minding our own business at a football match that YOU were supposed to be stewarding.

Dont go accusing and blaming the people you were supposed to protect for your own inadequacies. We are not the ones at fault here!

Whether you are paid or not, once that jacket is donned, you have a responsibility to protect and control the crowd, a duty to ensure ALL spectators are free to watch the game without intimidation or obstruction.

This is something which you clearly failed to achieve on every count.

You are acutely aware of the trouble Rhyl bring with them and it is not the job of the supporters to 'come and get you' in any sign of trouble. You should be looking out like a hawk at ALL times ensuring the safety of ALL contained within the stadium.

At the first sign of trouble, if you cant handle it yourself, the police should be called. This is what should have happened on Wednesday. Next time, I will not hesitate to call the police myself.

And as for your very poor excuse that you were busy 'doing the raffle' - a lady was handing out the tickets our side and this was well before half time - the real trouble started in the 2nd half.

For the Chairman to have to wade in and do your job was inexcuseable. Where were you?

The seriousness is that it almost kicked off 'big time' and there would certainly have been a lot of injuries. It horrifies me to think about it, especially with all the children around.

And as for trouble, since when did we start using first name terms on here? very sad, Deesider, very sad. I wont lower myself to point out your name or indeed your address.

p.s. it was also nice of you to completely ignore me when I spoke to you at the match. For someone who says we should have approached you, its not a very good sign is it?

Here we go again ! What a friendly loyal and cohesive small bunch of supporters we have here at Nomads. ( a Joke) Not at all like the the loudmouthed minority of Rhyl supporters, who have so little self respect that they don't care about the impact that their words and behaviour have on the people around them. ( Another joke )

Anyone outside the club reading this thread and many similar past threads of our fans publicly tearing each other apart, will certainly be put off supporting the club or contributing to this message board. Worst of all, the way we behave on here as supporters, does nothing to give us any moral high ground over supporters from clubs such as Rhyl and Bangor. At this rate we are going to need an Octagonal Stadium so that we can stand far enough apart from each other.

At times, I also wonder why I keep trying to do my bit for the club by keeping this message board going!

dr, i was'nt complaining about you or the other lads,i was just venting my frustration at the morons who came to the game,i know it is a thankless job you do and i would'nt expect anybody to approach these people without proper backup or relevent numbers, but it's every ground they go to,people are complaining about their language and behaviour, they think they have a god given right to behave the way they do,it's systematic of modern times,if they were approached chances are you would end up lying on the ground,if they can verbally abuse a chairman of pensionable age, they would have no concience about standing up to stewards, but of course it would have to be in a mob situation.like i said it's just frustration on my part.

QP There was two people doing the raffle a lady and a steward.

I would of thought that the fact of children being around would not of bothered you as the worse of the foul language comes from you and your little possy.

It was awful that the chairman had to try to do something and despite his position it was not going to have the same effect as an official approach from yellow-vested stewards, which would have made the situation clear and after which any future trouble could have been focussed and the police contacted if it did go that way. In the end it was just the usual bad manners from the Rhyl low-life (and they are not typical of the majority of fans of a great little club) deliberately picking on a small group of Quayites and hoping to rile them. But what is sad is to witness the bickering between CQN fans- there aren't enough of us to waste energy arguing. What the club must do is learn from this- was there a real threat of mis-behaviour ?- were there steward resources available? - should they have been called in?
If there were problems with any of this, OK so let's learn and be ready next time but it's not on to have a go at volunteers, let the club hold its own enquiry if necessary.

Owain, I know you weren't having a go at me or the lads and I totally respect and value your opinion on any matter regarding CQFC.

If QP, TT, the chairman or anybody else wants to go into the middle of the Rhyl supporters and have it out with them, that's fine by me. I personally don't, my four year old son was at the game and I have no intention of making a dick out of myself in front of him.

I was approached by members of the club many years ago and asked to help them out regarding stewarding, because it is a league requirement that the club has so many stewards on duty at games, I was asked to look after the match officials, a task that I've carried out without too many problems and it's also a task that I've enjoyed doing.I've never taken a penny off the club for this service and tbh I would rather just watch the game in peace but I do it purely because nobody else wants to.

If TT or any of his crew want to do it, that's fine by me, tbh after this thread and tt and qp's comments I'm really not sure I want to do it anymore anyway.

dr,all clubs need people like yourself and the rest of the stalwarts who keep clubs like nomads going,i can totally understand your reasons for not going in amongst the rhyl crowd, situations like these can soon escalate into confrontational arguments and like you say,you end up looking as bad as the people your trying to placate, your only volunteers not vigilantes,it's just a shame that we can't have any banter between supporters without it descending into foulmouthed obscenities, keep up the good work mate, you are appreciated.

Lea 1, I have sat and shouted with QP and TT's group of supporter's throughout 2 1/2 games and in my 3hrs 45 mins of shouting and chanting with them, I never heard any swearing beyond the referee's a w*****r. Your accusation is inflammatory and you are simply pouring oil on troubled water. Any similar posts from you will be deleted.

Deesider, I hope you don't stop supporting the club in the pro-active way that you do. In truth, the club needs all of us to keep supporting it with our various contributions. I dont care if people don't like the way I police this message board, because I know that just like when our players go on the pitch, I do it for the Club and to the best of my ability.

You know in your heart when you are doing something that helps the club, and you are.

Redd,

You have made an extremely good and valid point.

There are lessons to be learned from this. Fortunately, the only problems we are likely to encounter are from the likes of Rhyl, so its not going to happen often.

However, having said that, when they do come, the club needs to prevent any problems occuring in the first place or an effective action plan to deal with them if things get out of hand.

This isnt a personal attack on any individual here, from where I was stood, it was a very serious situation, one that needs to be addressed before its too late.

I was personally intimidated and my view was obstructed for at least 45 mins. I had to stand up most of the time and suffered a multitude of insults and had fingers poked in my face on more than one occasion. I was also spat at on the way out.

I am all for chanting and banter, the profanities dont bother me either but I dont pay my gate to be treated in such a hostile way, nor do I want my son to ever have to witness that again.

This behaviour is totally unacceptable and had it have been in the English league the offenders would have been removed from the ground and arrested on the way out.

It is the clubs responsibility to ensure that stewards are properly trained and effectively used and the police called when necessary. The trouble causers should be banned from the stadium and an official complaint should be made to the Welsh FA causing problems for the club itself. Maybe this will force the club to oust the troublemakers out.

The more clubs that take this action, the better.

DR, you say now you had no intention of wading in and making a dick out of yourself in front of your son - yet earlier you said, had you been approached the matter could have been resolved!

This now means that the CQ supporters had no steward back up whatsoever which concerns me greatly. What would you have done had I asked for help?

Do all the Stewards feel this way? and if so, what are we supposed to do next time? Bring baseball bats?

I overheard some disturbing conversations from Rhyl fans that day on what they were planning to do but (I say fortunately) it seems in the end they were only interested on picking on the women and children. Typical.

Not one of you can blame the Quay fans for feeling raw.

QP, there's an easy solution to all this childish bickering over the stewarding of future CQ games. Against Caernarfon you can have mine and Stu's yellow bips and you and that other idiot can do it, failing that maybe you both could pay for professional stewards because I know the club certainly can't afford it. Ffs it's just not worth the hassle, as a single dad I have far better things to do with my time than be criticised for trying to help a local football club, end of for me now.

Good luck to all connected with the club and can somebody shut the gate after chief trouble makers TT and QP have finally driven everybody out.

I would like to point out at this juncture that I was willing and able to support any action taken by officials in the case of violent behaviour by unruly fans.

I did well not to react to the inbread abuse until after the match, whereupon QP was confronted by the male ring leaders that were then intent on sticking their fag-stained fingers in her face...........both myself and a friend jumped up and challenged the idiots, to which they reacted by thinking better of it, leaving without further incident.

I would normally agree that we should all stick together as fans, but for the life of me, I can't see myself having anything to do with some of the single minded supporters of this club.

There is no way forward for new supporters due to the distinct lack of hospitality displayed by the few that think they have exclusive rights in supporting this club.

If only you would stop and take a moment to put yourselves in the shoes of new supporters.

Soon TT you will be the only supporters left at the club, I've never in my life seen two people stir up, and cause so much trouble and bad feeling.

I will attend the next home game, only to throw the yellow jackets into the faces of these pair of clowns and then I'm off. When the said pair of clowns have had enough and are bored of their latest toy, I will return.

TT and QP you are a first class pair of idiots!
