Marc Lloyd Williams "Jiws" seems to have the job. What do you think

"The League's highest ever goalscorer, Marc Lloyd Williams is set to be named as the new Manager of Connah's Quay Nomads. It is understood that 'Jiws' was offered the role today, which will be his first Managerial job after an illustrious playing career in the League. The hotshot, who was released by Bangor City last month, just before Steve Bleasdale also left Farrar Road, was looking for a club to remain in the Principality Welsh Premier and this provides a tremendous opportunity for the ex-Golden Boot winner to adopt a Player/Manager role.
The Nomads hot-seat became vacant when the long-serving Neville Powell left the Deesiders to ironically go in the other direction to Farrar Road. Alun Morgan, who was Powell's Assistant last year at the Nomads was then offered the vacant position but he opted to follow Powell to become his Number 2 at the Citizens. The club then issued a statement to say that they would fill the position as early as possible to provide security to their players and they appear to have been true to their word.

Jiws struck his 250th League goal this season after re-joining Bangor following a successful spell with TNS, winning the Welsh Premier twice and winning the Golden Boot in the Double winning 2004/05 season with 34 goals.

Marc's other Welsh Premier clubs include Porthmadog and Aberystwyth. He left Bangor to try his luck in the Football League with Stockport County and also played for Halifax and York City. He returned to Farrar Road and broke the league goal-scoring record with 47 in 2001/2 and would have won the European Golden Boot award had Wales enjoyed a higher UEFA coefficient.

A Wales 'B' and semi-professional international, Jiws became the first to score 200 Welsh Premier goals at Caernarfon in January 2005, also breaking the TNS club scoring record. He is currently undertaking his 'A' coaching Licence and his appointment at the Nomads is a tremendous opportunity for him and will be welcomed by Nomads fans."

I have heard the rumour about Jiws joining us aswell but dont know how true it is. What makes you so convinved?

I have now read the story about jiws joining the Nomads - call me a sceptacle old goat but i never beleive a story until i have read/heard an official statement from the club! Expect more twists yet one thinks!!

Jiws has one necessary attribute at least - he has enjoyed a full and satisfyingly successful playing career. He will be confident and full of encouragement - all he needs is a buddy who can coach defenders!

If he is a player/manager then he should bag 20 goals next year

Blaen not sure were your coming from , with the buddy who can coach defenders......dont think the likes of Williams..Jellico..Pinch..Swanick and Lovell...will be pleased to read that..........thought they did pritty good last season, with only letting in 40 goals.......think Marc will do better teaching us to score goals....as we only scored 49 in the league.....(and yes i no players read this ) thats my POINT......OH YER THATS IF THE LADS STAY WITH US........HERE HOPING......

Tough call for a player to go straight into management. Successful playing career does not always equate to a successful managerial career. I think it's better to get a grounding as a coach first (I know he's taking his badge, you can pass a driving test and it doesn't mean you're a good driver!) and then gradually take the steps up. Like Morgan for example, while it's a dissapointment for Nomads, it's the right move for him. Who know, you might be grateful in the long run when he comes back as a seasoned coach and leads the club to glory!!!

If it is to be Williams the toughest job will be to appoint the right experienced No. 2. It could be a rough ride next season and both the players and supporters will have to get behind the new team from the off.

As i suspected, Llyod Williams was not offficially confirmed BUT what is IMPORTANT now is we announce someone ASAP before the players get fed up with the insecurity and go elsewhere - probably Bangor!:?-(

MLW could do worse than to join Nomads as a player. He would get the service to score goals and his initial interest in the club would make him a popular figure with the supporters.

Daily Post seemed to dispel this rumour last week saying that a player with Welsh Premier and Football League experience had turned down the job, presumably MLW -pity if so - a Welsh speaker may have induced S4C to show CQN more often on Y Clwb Pel Droed!
Are there no other rumours? - maybe no news is good news.
At least the close season won't be boring with the manager and some new squad to recruit.

A decision and announcement is said (by a source close to the club) to be imminent, i.e. hopefully by this evening.
