Carluke Tigers 74 - 4 Moray Eels

Saturday the 7th saw Carluke Tigers make the long journey up to Lossiemouth to face Moray Eels, and in the process hammered their way to the top of the Scottish Rugby League Conference. The Tigers took a strong squad, but never had the numbers they usually have due to the five hour trip up north. The Tigers were in good spirits however, especially after their convincing win over Paisley Hurricanes the previous week, and were looking forward to take on the RAF men.

As it turned out, straight from the kick-off the Tigers set the tone for the rest of the match, and that was a tone of total domination. Any time the Eels got near the Tigers try line they were blown away with big tackling. In attack the Tigers were simply unstoppable with powerful running from the forwards and the backs showing some electrifying pace.

Even though the game was dead and buried, the Tigers kept going forward with ambition in the second half, and continued to out gun the Eels, and were actually unlucky not to score more than they did. The Eels managed one consolation score, but were totally out muscled and out paced from the first minute to the last.

It was an excellent performance from the Tigers, as they relentlessly blew away the opposition. It is proving to be an unbelievable debut season, with the team now top of the league after four games, and a play-off place almost secured.

Next up for the Tigers is a home tie against last seasons beaten Grand Finalists, Fife Lions, in what should be an absolute cracker. The match will kick off at 2.30 PM at Bellshill Academy, all welcome. For more info, email thetigers@live.co.uk
