West Origin Victorious
Four Carluke Tigers players were involved in the victorious West of Scotland Origin XIII recently, in what was a closely contested test series. In the first test, at Union Park, Edinburgh, the experienced East of Scotland XIII were victorious with a 46-40 victory in a match of free flowing rugby league. Despite this loss, the West side were encouraged by their performance, with a few of the lads being rugby league novices.
In the second test in Paisley, West managed to overturn the East. In what was a excellent performance filled with passion and commitment, the West XIII ran out 22-12 winners on the day, and won the test series overall on points difference 62-58. This is a huge achievement for all the guys involved, and the commitment of the players, coaches, and organisers of the West Origin team was the catalyst for this years success. This shows the potential of rugby league in the West of Scotland, especially considering they were whitewashed by the East of Scotland XIII only one year ago.
Carluke Tigers involved were Kyle Matheson, Lewis Matheson, Morgan Martin, & Stephen Paton. Morgan Martin was also assistant coach of the side. Well done lads.
