The firsts bowled Morton out for 78 and won by 7 wickets to climb back to 3rd place still only 5 points behind 2nd.
Dave Mudd and Danny Gough both took a wicket each in their opening spells to start everything off and then Jonny Shales (3-12) and Andy Goodwin (3-15) went through the middle order to leave Morton in deep trouble. Danny Gough returned to add another to his tally and George Chapman rounded off a good display by taking the last wicket.
Jonny Shales, Tony Mudd and Andy Goodwin all went early but Ben Bridgen, on his first bat for the 1sts this season remained unbeaten on 45 to steer us home to win by 7 wickets. Dave Hartley was at the other end unbeaten on 15.
Although Morton were missing their top 3 batters it was a good bowling display and we got wiclets, they didn't give their wickets away. We are now 5 points behind 2nd and 17 clear of 4th, it is nearly down to a two horse race for promotion.
The seconds travelled to Spondon looking to repeat the run fest had by the firsts a week earlier. Spondon made 254-7 with John Goodwin having his first major spell of the season to end with 3-56. We never looked like getting out on one of the flattest wickets around but neither did we ever seriously challange the Spondon total. Danny Green with 53 and Ryan Hetherington with 41 batted well and a brisk 68 from John Goodwin took the total to within 50 to get us a few draw points.
The thirds made hay while the sun shone very brightly at home to Allestree making 315-5 in 43 overs. Merv Timbrell made 87 at the top of the innings to set a big total up which was then followed by the Coopers. Mark Cooper was unbeaten on 132 with cousin Ian also unbeaten on 51, they put on a partnership of about 150. Allestree batted well but were never going to score 315 and ended up on 207-7, still 108 runs adrift. Sam Eaton took 3-47.
The fourths were away at Swarkestone and were set a difficult 191 to win. Dave Brdigen took 3-55. A good team effort in reply with John Clement (45), Dave Bridgen (30) and Tom Poynton (31) seeing them home with 3 wickets remaining. The fourths have a had a great month of results, keep going.
