Philosophical Quote: Never explain yourself – your friends won’t appreciate it and enemies won’t believe you anyway!

Career Highlight: Not a career highlight but more a life highlight having Tom Chapman as my skipper.

Authors Comment:

Jonathon is the newly appointed first team captain. He describes himself as fashionable and stylish but this is only because he systematically wearing the clothes his dad did through the early 70’s as and when they become vaguely fashionable in today’s style world. As a fairly out going bloke he spends most of his time in his room plotting to bring Lullington to its highest level with a communistic almost Marxist methodology! Only joking! Johny shales is a friend to all and the genuine clubman of his and the next generation, with a winning attitude that will hopefully swell throughout the 1st eleven and to rest of the club.

Career Highlight: Watching young snotter Rich Green destroying the Rolleston attack in the Randall Trophy final in which we were victorious

Authors Comment:

This self described ‘shy and humble’ character is one of the oldest and most consistent members of the young 1st team. Being Lullington parks very own Clarke Kent, Dave ‘Our Dave’ Adams lives a secret life, which is replicated in his cricket. The mouse like Dave off the playing field is quite different to the tiger that emerges on the pitch and when he not putting 110% in at his days at the park, he is striving to defend the world from the powers of evil! Well this is theory. However, evidence suggests he is a gigolo and rather than protecting the innocent in the district he is instead satisfying there emotional and physical needs. Will we ever know the secret life of Adams?

Song you would like to go out to bat to: Jimi Hendrix

Philosophical Quote: Behind every great man there are many others

Career Highlight:

Authors Comment:

A relatively new member of the club, Robbie has brought a new wave of fashion sense rather than cricketing influence. His chic presence has allowed the ‘country contingent’ of the club to really embrace the metro sexual man on every level. Rob has a winner’s attitude and will knuckle down for the team in any situation, which has quickly gained him respect within his team. He also looks like a strange cross breed of David Gray/Mathew Hoggard/Jimmy Bullard along with his groomed has made him a prime target for nicknames and verbal abuse! Always good for the team.

Philosophical Quote: ‘only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly’ Robert. F. Kennedy

Career Highlight: Batting in the Randall Trophy semi – final with giggsi to win the match.

Authors Comment:

The youngest Chapman is a changed man of late. Through a controlled diet, a stringent exercise regime and an eating disorder to end all eating disorders, the big fella has shed half his body weight. Some have said that he has lost his best parts in this extreme makeover and who are we to argue as he hugs the porcelain after every meal. A club member for many years now and a solid performer. George has proved himself to be a quality all rounder (not so much now) and is consistent member of Lullington’s 1st eleven. Oh and he loves his girlfriend aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh! Bless!

Career Highlight: Leading wicket taker in Div 1 2005, winning 3 BUSA finals for Loughborough, playing in rounds 1 and 2 of C&G cup 2000 v Wiltshire and Cambridgeshire, back to back Silver Link wins 2002-2003

Authors Comment:

Andy Goodwin, like most of the young 1st team, has been a member of the club since he donned his Lullington park customised nappy. From geek to chic, Andy has established himself as one of, if not, the best all round players the youth development process has produced. He is an influential member of the 1st team squad and although he has been relieved of his job as captain, Andy provides a level head and logical perspective within a hive of testosterone and B.S. When he is not playing, thinking about or coaching cricket he will be either socialising or with his lovely girlfriend. If you are lucky you may find him frequenting the regions night clubs on a podium chucking shapes like a drug fuelled maniac. People haven’t quite ‘got’ the mystical moves he can generate yet but like so many who are ahead of their time his brilliance will realised in years to come! Rave on!

Career Highlight: Batsman of the Year (2004)

Authors Comment:

A gentlemen and a scholar. Adam is currently undertaking some ridiculous master’s degree in international politics or something of that nature of which he looks to increase his already vast knowledge. You can’t pull the wool over our eyes young Johnson, we know your just trying to dodge tax and soap and live the student life for as long as you can (Fairplay!). Adam enjoys your average student activities – golf, hockey, dancing in his pants, getting drunk and conning ladies into letting him touch them. Life is learning to this Lullington park member, he is furthering his intelligence everyday, even if it is investigating what actually is optimum temperature to prepare and eat a chicken and mushroom pot noodle!

Philosophical Quote: ‘you can only piss out of the prick you’ve got’

Career Highlight: Being appointed Lullington Park 2nd team

Authors Comment:

Sean green IS a natural athlete, amongst football, rugby and obviously cricket…he lists that he is a sex god on his profile. So when the big friendly giant of Coton in the Elms isn’t wowing the crowds on the cricket pitch he is making sweet love to the lovely ladies of south Derbyshire. As the newly appointed 2nd team captain, Sean has dedicated himself to his club which unfortunately means he will have to neglect his primal urges…sorry ladies! He is a genuine bloke you can have a pint with and not have to worry about having to keep up after 17 more that follow!

Career Highlight: 92* vs. Belper Meadows

Authors Comment:

Ted is the head grounds man at Lullington Park. God was a lad when he started playing the game, and therefore has vast amounts of experience which he still is able to use with 4ths on a Saturday. Ted is the essence of the club. I don’t think there are many people that don’t know Mr Ted Shaw and if they don’t know him in person they will know him by reputation and some of them still like him! He is the gentlemen with the braces and the booming infectious laugh if you haven’t had the pleasure yet!

Name: Richard Jonathon Green

Song you would like to go out to bat to: Salt ‘n’ Pepa - Push it

Philosophical Quote: You’re only as good as your last game!!

Career Highlight: Derek Randal Trophy Final vs. Rolleston

Authors Comment:

Where do we start with this little paradox of a child? Richard green is one of Lullington Park’s stand out natural talents. One of the youngest members of the 1st team, he is a keeper and middle order batsman. However we are currently having deal with the little problem of adolescence. As with most lads his age, he spends a lot of time hunched over in his room furiously concentrating about the nature films he borrows from his brother. If we could channel the enthusiasm he has in the illusion of being intimate with the opposite sex into his cricket on a Saturday afternoon, then his full potential may be realised. The flashes of brilliance we have seen already from this 17year old are only a taster of what is hopefully to come and with a little direction he will become a brilliant and devastating cricketer.

Name: William Edward Chapman

Fav Album: Brothers in arms – Dire Straits

Song you would like to go out to bat to: ‘flash’ - Queen

Philosophical Quote: ‘he who dares wins’

Career Highlights: Dismissing Kim Barnett 3 times in a Derbyshire net session.

Authors Comment

The middle Chapman brother is as defiant in life as he is on the cricket field. Helm is a graduate who majored in the art of booze and brings a social dimension to the club as well as some useful bowling and timely batting cameos. Helm is a well liked member of the club of whom everyone gets along. He always strives for perfection but unfortunately he has been knocked with injuries which have thwarted his progress in recent years. However, he is over his glass back days and now looks to be a prominent part of the club for the foreseeable future.

Name: John Goodwin

Fav. Album: Any Beatles

Song you would like to go out to bat to: HEY JUDE

Philosophical Quote: Most important ball is the next one!!

Career Highlight: Playing on Riverside at Durham last year.

Authors Comment:If you were to cut this south Derbyshire monument in half, you would find Lullington park cricket club through and through. John Goodwin is amongst only a handful of his generation to be still playing and up until last year he was the 2nd team skipper. This cricketing dinosaur is almost defying evolution by turning out every weekend and providing a much needed backbone to the club with his exploits with the bat! A natural leader and a diplomat to boot (really!?), john has been the fulcrum to the development of the club over the last 10 - 15 years, providing scope and determination. Never one to look for an easy life the big lump of love has swapped his role of captain to player coach. Will we ever escape his scrutiny?! We very much doubt it. There’s no substitute for constructive criticism is there Jonathon? Ha!

Philosophical Quote: you must try everything in life at least once, except incest and folk dancing

Career Highlight: having more fun than you should do with all the wonderful mates I’ve met and lost over the many decades. God bless you all xx

Authors Comment:

What can you say bout this pint sized hero, he is a legend amongst men. Andy is not only the complete cricketer (as he will tell you!) but also an enthusiastic golfer and not to mention a master of his wood. With his own furniture empire, he employs half of the junior section of the club; according to an undercover report the sweat shops in the 3rd world could take a lesson from Mister Tiso’s working methods. However, his slaves love him like his club mate’s and family do – bless! Andy is a great bloke who brings laughter and a great atmosphere wherever he is and that’s not including the flatulence.

Name: Sam Eaton

Philosophical Quote: If there’s grass on the wicket, let’s play cricketCareer Highlight: Playing at Headingly in national school finals and playing in national finals for Lullington.

Authors Comment

The Stig is rumoured to be the creation of genetic modification. He was allegedly reared and nurtured in a test tube (large bucket) and then when 6 foot, able to fit in an xl t – shirt, positioned into society without any of us being the wiser. This is all hearsay though and we are assured he was actually the product of the mutual love shared by Lord and Lady Eaton of the Moonraker estate. The big fella is now a regular in the 2nd team providing unlimited comedy with his batting and bowling escapades. Also don’t let his appearance lead you into thinking that he is a scruffy teenager – he just is!

Name: Joe Eaton

Nicknames: Gumbo

DOB: 11/11/87

Batting style: erotic

Bowling style: erratic

Best batting: 115 vs Tutbury U17s

Song you would like to go out to bat to: Soccer Am music – Mr big stuff, Nelly – here comes the boom

Philosophical Quote: “well just have to tell your mother we ate it all” - Jims dad

Career Highlight: Getting twatted from Spondon to Swadlincote

Authors Comment

You can’t fault honesty. The actual bowling display that Joe mentions in his profile was specifically 1 delivery and it still hasn’t returned to the earth’s surface. You would have thought this would have broken the spirit of the eldest Eaton offspring but oh no he’s back and thirsty for more. Like his younger bother Sam, Joe has developed in an overnight process of DNA testing and is grown into one big hairy arsed fledgling of the Eaton clan. The natural ability is there and with the right guidance and focus we might get him to bowl an over of straight deliveries well here’s to being optimistic!

Name: Ian Robert Cooper

Nicknames: Coops

DOB: 5 – 11 - 64

Fav. Album: Tapestry – Carol King

Song you would like to go out to bat to: Don’t stop me now - Queen

Philosophical Quote: ‘It’s only a game!’

Career Highlight: Playing for Lullington Park for the last 23 years.

Authors Comment

Mr Cooper is a seasoned player and is one of the few members of the club that is actually from the village of Lullington. He can therefore be considered as a pedigree Lullingtonian and with this he is something like the 17th in line to the throne of the club after the obvious choices of Messer’s Goodwin, Fern (his mums the current queen) and Cliffe. This clubman is another whom provides gainful employment to many of the young members of the park. It’s just a good job this fine gentlemen is as affable as he is or it may get just too much to see him all week and then at the weekend too!!! A unique batting style to say the least has allowed Coops to bash his way through generations of opposition. If you don’t know coops then you will know his leaning batting stance…do as he says not as he does kids!

Fav. Album: Never heard one

Song you would like to go out to bat to: Oasis - Morning Glory

Philosophical Quote: Hard work never killed anybody, but why take a chance!

Career Highlight: Going to South Africa with Derbyshire

Authors Comment

If you go through the other players profiles you will realise that Sir Paul of Dawsonshire is named as many of their heroes. While this author can find no real solid evidence of achievement to back up this hero status, he finds it very difficult to disagree. Without any effort this young fella has captured the hearts and minds of his community and with the right publicity I can see him capturing the hearts of the nation…big brother beckons Paul – reach for the stars you big soft bollock! Look at his profile picture to understand why this man has no enemies and is loved by all!
