Following the girls lead into the national final the Under 15's, Under 12's and John Taylor year 8's (including alot of our players) all moved into their respective finals today, the 8th July.
Under 15's B v Trentside - semi final of cup
The Under 15's B played Trenside in the semi final of the league cup at Lullington. Trentside posted a very good 145 in their 20 overs but this didn't seem too daunting to the Lullington oppeners (Olly Baum and David Archer) who made a very good start. After Baum was out Ben Furner came in and continued the assault and 70 had been scored in the first 10 overs. The next 4 overs saw the score shoot up and suddenly with 6 overs left 38 was needed. Even a few wickets couldn't cause a wobble and Jason Bennet saw the side home with a 4 with 4 balls left.
A top win and they will now face either our A's or Ticknall. That game will be played soon.
Under 12's v Sawley - semi final of Dawn Collard Trophy
The under 12's travelled to Sawley in the semi final of the Dawn Collard trophy, the Derbyshire U12's cup competition. Having posted 270 even after losing 4 wickets against a very strong Sawley team Sawley went in front with 2 overs to go but wickets by Ben Young and a catch by Tom Carron, (somehow with his throat) in the last over sealed the game by 3 runs. They are now in the final for a chance to be the best U12's side in Derbyshire.
John Taylor year 8's v Wakefield - semi final of national schools cup
John Taylor including 5 players from us, Rob Beddard, Luke Carthy, Tom Poynton, Sam Eaton and Brett Byrd travelled to Wakefield to play Queen Elizabeth Grammar school in the national semi final of the schools cup.
They beat their opponants quite comfortabley in a good game of cricket to book their place in the final at Headingley no less. Not too many of our club have played at a test ground. Congratulations to all who played, good luck for the final which is to be held on Monday.
