Official Lullington Park CC
6th July - Official Reports
Lullington Park consolidated their second position in the Derbyshire County League Division One with a high points haul from the drawn game away to Marehay.

George Chapman, promoted up the order to open for Park relished the challenge, enjoying a stylish innings, ended when he was trapped leg before
by Base having scored 38 out of a 65 run partnership with Dave Adams, who was again playing fluently and racking up the runs before he too perished, lbw to Base, seven runs short of a half century.

But, Park, showing no signs of missing their Ibiza bound foursome of regulars, build on that solid foundation with Tony Mudd forcing the pace,
with an aggressive innings that saw him clear the pavilion with one towering six as he had the home side on the defensive with a fine 69.

Steve Gough, unbeaten on 26, pepped Park's total to 228-4 at the close of their 50 overs, then the combined attack of Dave Mudd's seam and Chapman's
spin grabbed a couple of early wickets cheaply as Marehay began their response.

Mudd continued to enjoy a four wicket haul, and then Colin Shaw, brought into the team with his pacy left arm seam, avenged Buckley taking four
boundaries off him in quick succession as he had him smartly caught by Chapman. Shaw then ripped into the middle order, returning 4-41, but
Marehay hung on, forcing the draw at 172-9.

Park's seconds had the better of a drawn Division 3S game with Brailsford with Adam Johnson leading a run spree as he enjoyed a maiden century as he
shared a 179 run opening partnership with Richard Jones.

Forcing the pace throughout, Johnson piled up 110 runs before falling to five wicket Clarke, and with Jones making 64, Park reached 228-6. The
visitors began badly, losing three wickets cheaply but stubborn middle order performances steered them to safety, despite Graham Boden's accurate spell (3-25) and they ended on 183-7.

Park's thirds were on the receiving end of plenty of leather hunting as Clifton piled up 253-5 in their Division 5S game, and then had their
visitors in trouble, as they slumped to 22-4. Ian Cooper with a typically big hitting 42 brought some respectability to the total, and with Mark
Cooper's 28 and 23 from David Stock, Park were finally dismissed for 126.

Park's fourths suffered two Division 7S defeats. Paul Mantell with 25 and 20 from Paul Eaton helped them to 106 in Saturday's game at home to table topping Aston, but with Graham Back grabbing a couple of wickets, the visitors had to work hard, final reaching 110-5. Ollie Baum top scored with 33, Ted Shaw added 25 and Gil Oldfield 29 as Park reached 185-8 at Quarndon, but the home side romped to victory by nine wickets.
