June 28th - 2nds v Sawley

By John Goodwin - June 30 2003
After playing half a season not being able to bat the weather intervened and prepared a wicket to bring the high flying Sawley down to our level, with the ever important toss being contested by 2 people who admit to winning 1 each for the season.Lullington won and with much thought (.01 of a second) inserted Sawley.
The weathers master plan worked beautifully with the dangerous Poolley deciding it wasnt the wicket for him and returning the ball back to the bowler, despite Brown's 48 wickets fell regularly, even Dawsy removing Brunton for a change & despite a late rally from Clifford & Barry White (no relation if your wondering) to leave Sawley on 148 from their overs.
Then the fun started with nobody very keen on opening & has usual the skipper had to do the dirty jobs (just like coaching the ladies somebody has to do it) after the shot he played I have sacked him. The 2 Greens Danny & Rich (Sean deciding shopping was a better bet he saw the wicket Friday) batted exceptionally well on a now easier track, with Danny scoring 64 & Rich 40 to win by a comfortable & wickets
