Official Lullington Park CC
June 22nd - Official Reports
Lullington Park enjoyed their biggest victory of the season as they blasted their Derbyshire County League Division One promotion rivals Elvaston to a ten wicket defeat.

Only three of the visiting batsmen managed double figures as Park's attack ran rampant. Skipper Dave Mudd struck the first blow, in his second over, having Ault caught by Andy Goodwin, and then fellow seamer Danny Gough struck two quick, important blows having first the normally free-scoring Birch caught by Tony Mudd and then bowling Randle.

Mudd completed a three wicket haul, trapping Archer leg before, and then bowling Kettlewell while Gough finished with 3-11 before spinner Goodwin had the visitors in a tangle, wreaking havoc in a six over stint that saw him return 3-16. Jonny Shales finished the Elvaston tail as the visitors slumped to an all out 66.

Shales continued the destruction with a typically aggressive performance with the bat, as Park romped home. Fellow opener Dave Adams had signalled their intent by driving the first ball of the innings to the boundary, and while he went on to an unbeaten 20, Shales, driving powerfully, and hoisting a big six, had reached 47 as Park took victory inside a dozen overs.

And, as Park began their defence of the Silver Link Trophy on Sunday, it was again the brilliance of Shales that contributed much to their victory over Aston on Trent in a high scoring thriller. He plundered 133 runs from 155
balls in an aggressive, dominant performance that had the visitors on the defensive as they attempted to stem his run flow, which included a string of 14 boundaries.

He eventually fell to a catch in the deep, but by then, Park were in the last but one of their 50 overs, with 253 runs on the board. The Mudd
brothers, Tony, 26, Dave 21 not out and Dave Hartley 22, all pushed the score along as the home side reached 269-7.

Aston took up the challenge with Zamir providing a solid base with a half century, and then middle order man Aslam powering his way to 92 with an
innings that had the alarm bells ringing for the home supporters. He eventually fell to Danny Gough, again bowling impressively to claim 4-31.
Spinners Goodwin and George Chapman worked hard to contain the run flow, and with that man Shales grabbing a wicket, along with one apiece for the Mudds finally dismissed the visitor for 243.

* Park's seconds had a welcome Division 3S victory away to Breadsall, though a dramatic batting collapse almost cost them dearly. The
home side had been restricted to 182-9, with teenager spinner Paul Dawson excelling as he produced figures of 6-47 in a nine over stint, and then with Sean Green making the most of his promotion to opening bat, and scoring 67, Park looked well set. Richard Green added 35, skipper John Goodwin 36 as the visitors reached 169-5, but then four wickets tumbled before Colin Shaw and Graham Boden steered them to victory by one wicket.

A second victory of the weekend looked on the cards in their cup match away to South Wingfield. Richard Green had made a stylish 47, Tom Chapman adding 31, prior to an explosive performance from Will Chapman who smashed everything to the boundary in a whirlwind 62 as Park reached 251,

Paul Dawson had the home side in a spin, taking 3-32 and there was a wicket apiece for Colin Shaw and Tom Chapman as the home side reach 103-5 when rain and bad light halted the game, with the tie to be replayed this Sunday.

* Park's thirds piled up 211-8 in the Division 5S match at home to Elvaston, with a half century from Adam Poynton, 32 from Tom Lenihan
and an unbeaten 42 from Dave Stock, but the visitors piled on the agony as they chased the runs. Geoff Leedham took 3-58, but Elvaston took the points with six wickets to spare.

* Park's fourths enjoyed a five wicket Division 7S victory away to Sawley and Long Eaton Park. The combination of spin from the visitor's veteran skipper Ted Shaw (3-29) and 13 year old Sam Eaton (4-35)proved too much for the home side as they slumped to 128 all out. Eaton then made 17, which along with 20 from Luke Carthy and unbeaten knocks of 22 from Tom Poynton and 16 from Jason Bennett eased Park to 129-5.
