In the league clash, the A team won the toss and elected to bat. Luke
Carthy-2-33, removing David Stock-10, And then the prize wicket of Richard
Green. 20, brilliantly caught in the slips by Jason Bennett. This only
bought Tom Poynton -50 retired, in to join opener Paul Dawson and together
posted a target of 154.
The B teams reply was steady, with Ben Furner-12, and Ollie Baum 13 gave
them a steady start. The introduction of Robbie Beddard changed things
around, having Ollie well caught in the deep by Richard Green to become 1 of
his 3 victims, finishing with figures of 3-12. This bringing Jason
Bennett-24- to the crease to join Luke Carthy12, who took the score along to
a respectable 83. Jason becoming one of Nicky Dawson 2 victims, who along
with Alex Thompson 2-22 mopped up the tail.Tom Poynton also getting in on
things with 4 stumpings.
A very enjoyable game with some usefull cricketers on view from both sides
and along with the 3 girls, Amanda Kirkland, Elain Beddard and Nicky Dawson,
the future of cricket in the Park looks very good .
Dave Bridgen as agreed to look after the B side in the future and I know
that under his guidance the B team will become even better.
Also, good luck to Tom Poynton on his Midlands trialL
