Lullington Park had their supporters biting their finger nails for a second time in a week as they fought out another Derbyshire County League Division One close encounter, this time with Belper Meadows, finally overcoming the visitors by
two wickets in a low scoring affair.

The Meadows had begun brightly, going for the runs, and scampering to 23 off the first four overs, but then they were pegged back by seamers Danny Gough, who made the initial breakthrough at 45, and Colin Shaw, both of whom returned impressive two wicket hauls.

Once the visitors Aussie ace Smith had gone for 21, and then Dallas for 24, the Meadows struggled, with spinners Andy Goodwin, again captaining the side, and George Chapman, back
from injury, turning the screw and shooting the visitors down for 100.

It looked an easy target, but it proved anything but as the lively Tait led a Belper fight back, but Goodwin, enjoying a super all-round performance, having earlier returned 3-19,
held his team together with a defiant unbeaten 32. He hammered a string of five boundaries as the alarm bells were ringing, with wickets falling cheaply at the other end.

But Jonny Shales, fresh from his unbeaten century earlier in the week against Burton in the Randall Trophy, cracked a rapid fire 31 - four boundaries, one a big six - and then tail-ender Sean Green sealed victory with an edged
boundary to ease his side to a fourth league victory.

Parks seconds enjoyed a league and league cup
double away to Little Eaton. In Saturday's Division 3S game, the visitors charged to an impressive 253-8 with Richard Jones leading the run-spree with 74. The brothers Danny, 34, and Richard, 36, maintained the momentum with
skipper John Goodwin topping it up with 28. The home side were bowled out for 136, with teenage spinner Paul Dawson claiming 3-23, and both Liam Rollason and Ryan Hetherington grabbing a couple of wickets.

Then on Sunday, Colin Shaw returned 3-26 as the home side were restricted to 167-6, a total Park passed for the loss of three wickets as Danny Green hammered 62 and Jones 37, to earn a second round Bayley Cup tie away to South Wingfield.

Parks third beat Castle Donington in a tense
Division 5S match, having restricted their visitors to 161-8 as Rob Goodwin enjoyed figures of 5-46 and Mervyn Timbrell collected two wickets cheaply, but after starting brightly,
the home side lost wickets cheaply. However Ben Bridgen, with 49, and an unbeaten 46 from Timbrell steered them home at 166-9.

But, there was no cup joy for them, as they lost by 13 runs away to Aston. The home side made 194, with Dave Cotterill the pick of the Park bowlers with 3-38, but despite Adam Poynton's hard hitting 69, the visitors fell short at 181 all out.

Park fourths were without a league match on
Saturday, but entertained Marehay in the league cup and although they went down by seven wickets, with a couple of overs to spare to a team two divisions above them, Park had some sparkling performances from their youngsters, with 13
year old Luke Carthy scoring an unbeaten century and Laurence Burford making 32 as the home side posted 214-9.
