24th May reports - no wins
By Andy - May 27 2003
A bad weekend, with no wins for any teams. The firsts went down by 1 wicket with 2 balls left at Morton while the 2nds had a losing draw to Spondon. The thirds game was cancelled at Allestree while the 4ths lost by 11 runs to Swarkestone. >

The firsts batted first on a very wet green track and were soon in trouble at 45 for 5. Andy Goodwin and Steve Gough put on 50 for the 6th wicket to push the score towards 100 with Ady Shales and then Skipper Dave Mudd (29) pushed the score to a respectable 156.

Mudd got Elkes out as always early and then we had to wait till the intruduction of Sean Green for the next wicket on about 80. Paul Dawson on debut snapped up a couple (figures of 2-20) and at 150 for 6 the game looked over but 3 quick wickets by Danny Gough and Dave Mudd (2) meant 3 off the last 4 balls were needed but number 11 dquirted the penultamate ball away and a 3 was scrambled.

Another game that was lost and could have been won and another to go down in the "beaten by the pro" column with their Aussie taking 7 for. From 45 for 5 though a good effort and on another day.......

The seconds held on for a winning draw and are still looking for their first win of the season. A good bowling spell from Colin Shaw and runs from Tom Chapman still couldn't bring victory.
