Official Lullington Park CC
10th May - Official reports
Lullington Park enjoyed the third victory of their Derbyshire County League
Division One season as they sent the defending champions West Hallam
crashing to a seven wicket defeat.

The home side were reeling to the Park's opening seam attack, with both
Danny Gough and Jonny Shales making the most of a receptive track as they
had the Hallam batsmen on the rack, each taking a couple of wickets.

But Attenborough and Barrow staged a middle order fightback, digging in
determinedly, finding the boundary with some lusty blows, and also running
well to take quick singles as they put together a fifth wicket stand of 81
in 24 overs to put the home side back in contention.

The return of Gough soon accounted for Barrow, bowled for 40, while
Attenborough completed his unbeaten half century as the home side reached
176-9, with the lively Gough the pick of the visiting attack, returning 4-42
from 14 overs while George Chapman spun his way to 3-44.

Park's response was positive and strong, with Dave Hartley, who earlier had
taken a couple of smart catches, and Shales going for the runs against a
Hallam attack that was using the rain affected track to good advantage and
making life as difficult as possible.

Shales was first to go, four short of a half century, but by then he had put
Park in a solid position, reaching 89 for the loss of the first wicket.
Hartley fell soon afterwards to Raynor's catch, having made a vital 42.

Building on that, either side of a stoppage for rain, Dave Adams, was on the
attack, with 26 while skipper Andrew Goodwin, again providing a fine array
of hard hitting drives to the boundary, was unbeaten on 34 as Park reach
179-3 and victory with some 14 overs to spare, keeping his side in second
place in the table.

* Park's seconds went down by three wickets in their home
Divison 3S game with Rolls Royce. Danny Green, with a characteristically
lively 54, gave Park the early initiative, with skipper John Goodwin, 35,
and teenagers Joe Eaton, 25, and Richard Green, 18, building on it to take
their side's total to 173.

The works side were reduced to 25-4 as young seamer Liam Rollason struck a
couple of early blows, and though Daft steadied them, when he was bowled by
Colin Shaw (3-34) the visitors were still rocking at 55-6, but Mason took
charge with an unbeaten 80 to ease them to victory.

* Park's thirds were heavily beaten away to Duffield in their
Divison 5S game after the home side had scampered to 218-4, with Geoff
Leedham grabbing 3-71 in a hardworking 14 over stint. Adam Poynton with 31
and Ian Cooper, 16, were the only visiting batsmen to reach double figures
as their side slumped to 78 all out.

* Park's fourths grabbed their first Division 7S victory of
the season, at the expense of their local rivals Dunstall, coming out on top
in a high scoring game by 26 runs. John Clement set up Park's success,
carrying his bat for 79, and with Richard Allsop making 48 and Chris Archer
24, the home side reach 229-8.

Dunstall went for the runs, Kemp and Eden each making 53, then
Nickson slammed 40, as they reached 188-3, but Park's skipper Ted Shaw, who
earlier had made 28 vitals runs, hung on to a couple of catches, and then
introduced his own brand of spin, taking 5-44. And, with a couple of
wickets each from Archer and Jason Bennett, the visitors collapsed to 203
all out.
