Rotherham 42 Otley 13

By Oscar the Otter - December 8 2008
Rotherham 42 Otley 13 Otley's recent winning ways came to an end with a disappointing performance at a grim Clifton Lane. Trailing 23-13 at the interval, Otley conceded an unlucky try just after the break and then lost the ball in the act of scoring before the hosts ran in 2 late converted tries.

Fresh from last weekend's humping at Exeter, Rotherham looked to home advantage to return to winning ways and welcomed back their first choice front row to the starting line-up.

In contrast, Otley were shorn of another 3 key players with Mike McComish, Tom Denton and Kyle Dench - arguably the stand-out players from the 2 previous matches - both being withdrawn in order to rest knocks.

With Ian Shuttleworth, Robin Kitching and Steve Parsons out with injuries, the ubiquitous Xavier Andre and Danny Smith started on the wings with Peter Wackett at full-back. Loan prop Adam Hopcroft made his 2nd appearance at tight-head with Kris Fullman also out with injury. Dan Hyde returned to lead the side from the back-row albeit at No.8 rather than his preferred position at openside.
