Playing with the slope but into a stiff breeze Otley struggled to clear their lines on the boggy Brickfields playing field. Plymouth had a simple game plan - hoof it into the Otley half with the wind and wait for the visitors to make a mistake.
Otley's defence was not at its best in the first half. Plymouth registed their first score in the fifth minute when centre Sila Vaenuku found his way through and fellow centre Regarat Van Eyk converted.
Three minutes later, scrum-half Edward Lewsey burrowed over at the corner and Van Eyk again converted.
Right winger Thomas Arscott, hooker Richard Oxley and Van Eyk added further scores with Van Eyk adding 2 more conversions to establis a 33-0 half time lead.
Otley returned for the second half with enthusiasm which did not waiver despite going further behind when Lewsey went over for his second try to make it 38-0.
Otley injected some fresh men from the bench for the last 25 minutes with Andy Brown coming on at scrum-half and skipper Ian Shuttleworth moving up to join him at half-back.
Otley started to retain the ball for longer periods and played with more width. The first try came after replacement centre Joe Pattison broke clear on half-way before chipping over Albion full-back Nat Saumi. Danny Smith used his electric pace to win the race to dive on the ball in the left hand corner. Shuttleworth hit the left hand upright with the conversion attempt.
After Otley conceded another try to winger Nicolas Sesteret, converted by replacement fly half David Delany, they produced an excellent last 10 minutes.
Second row Brendon Back siezed a mis-directed line-out near the Albion line before crashing over but Sestaret scored again with Delaney converting.
With time running out, Otley took a quick tap penalty on half-way and No.8 Matt Stockdale showed a clean pair of heals to cut through and finish off from 30 metres out.
Skipper Shuttleworth turned down the conversion attempt so that the referee would re-start the game indicating only 1 minute of time was left.
Second row Howard Parr gathered the re-start and the ball was re-cycled quickly by the forwards. A wide pass by Shuttleworth to Kyle Dench put the outside centre in space before releasing winger Smith with a sublime pass round the back of the Albion right winger. Smith sped down the wing before chipping ahead of Saumi and again made up 10 yards on 3 Albion players to win the chase but the ball just eluded him. As the ball bobbled around, replacement right winger Owen Edwards was on hand to dribble the ball over the line and drop on it to secure a bonus point try. An excellent reward for Otley's commitment and desire.
