This website will be specific to the activities of Sunderland Gateway. However there are a number of events that members who are registered with special olympics are invited to , we hope to have links and information about events open to our members on this website.

We would like to encourage all our members to be members of special olympics GB as well as other sporting bodies . At present we are looking into the possibility of being an assosiate member of Special olympics. We will keep everyone informed of our progress.

Although in some ways it is sad that Special olympics Sunderland and Sunderland Gateway Sport are becoming independent of each others. This will provide more opportunities for everyone in Sunderland and will give people with a learning disabilty choice as well which is a good thing.

We need to see this as an exciting time where a number of new and good things are happening and we hope to continue to work closely with other organisations that are providing services for people with a learning disability.
