The Pink Ba-Ba’s returned victorious to England after winning the Plate competition at the Kinsale 7s 2006. The team missed out on Cup qualification as they finished third in the “group of death”, losing to this years winners Clonakilty and last years runners up Ballicollig, but beating Kamasutra.
The Ba-Ba’s were awarded a walkover against Dick’s Honeybees when they failed to turn up for their quarter final match. They soundly beat the Royal Vets in the semi final only to play Kamasutra again in the Plate Final and win 44-7. Katy Nicol was the overall top try scorer for the Ba-Ba’s, closely followed by Captain Sam Wilson.
The Pink Ba-Ba’s are a team of outgoing and sporty girls that play for prominent London clubs; Richmond, Wasps, Rosslyn Park, Harlequins and Teddington. Many of the girls were in the victorious Richmond Impalas team that won the Plate competition last year.
The Pink Ba-Ba’s were formed in 2005 for the Aberaeron 7s as a result of one too many ‘lemonades’ in The Sun Inn, Richmond. It was the brainchild of two friends wanting to play 7s with like minded people unable to play together as they played for different clubs.
The girls enjoy their rugby competitively on the pitch, but at the same time thoroughly enjoying the fantastic social scene that accompanies the 7s circuit. They will always be best known for their social skills and their ability to entertain fellow teams. With their distinctive pink strip, the Ba-Ba’s gain much attention, therefore making them an attractive proposition for any potential sponsors.
