Match report for the under 15's game on Sunday

Redcar entertained Darlington Mowdwn Park in the first game of the season. The weather came true to form with a strong wind blowing down the pitch. Redcar won the toss & elected to play with the wind.

It would appear that Captains Joe's decision would be vindicated as Redcar dominated the early exchanges but could not turn possession into points. Strong tackling by the Mowden backs turned over a ball and their centre scored under the posts for a converted try. Both packs were evenly matched but Mowden made more use of their possesion scoring 2 further converted tries into the wind to take a 21-0 lead into half time.

Turning into the wind the Redcar supporters feared the worst. They had obviously forgotten our usual second half come back over the summer break.

A drive up the field by the Redcar forwards with Luke Gaffney And Stephen Johnson involved on several occassions, supported by Jonny Dixon & Graham Playfair, saw the backs released and Andy Benbow & Sean Jenkinson made further ground resulting in a Redcar penalty inside the 22. Luke Gaffeny drove over from short range with Andy B converting.

Mowden utilised their backs with the wind and scored 2 further unconverted tries. Andy Benbow scored a second try for Redcar with a break from the 22,His conversion was the last kick of the game Final score Redcar 14 DMP 31

All in all a very competitive game played in good spirit by both sides.
