PRESENTATION DINNER 2003/04

By R&O - May 17 2004
Hartlepool Rovers' Officials, Players and Members reflected on an extremely successful season at the Club Dinner held at the Friarage on Saturday night.

The Chairman, Phil Mitchell, thanked the coaches and players of all the Friarage sides for their efforts that had brought silverware for the 1st and 2nd XV's and also highlighted the talent that continued to come through the youth ranks which boded well for the future.

Player Coach, Brian Robinson, paid tribute to skipper Mark Power and his players for their efforts and also thanked his coaching colleagues, Eric Alderton, Kevin Wood and Terry Swales. He said the squad were under no illusions about the task that awaited them in North 2 East and that the commitment that had been evident in the promotion season needed to be taken up a further level. He also stressed that the Club was about all the players from the 1st XV to the minis and congratulated Paul Arnell and his Heughers side on their lifting of the Pyman Cup and praised the junior sides and their coaches.

The President, Bill Bowden, spoke similarly and also took the time to highlight the extra responsibilities that promotion to North 2 East would bring, particularly coupled with the 125th Anniversary Season that would start in August. There was a need to turn attention to an overhaul of the ground to ensure that the Friarage retained its place as the premier club ground in the County.
