REDCAR 5 -v- TECH 7

(Abandoned after 30 mins. due to injury to referee)

The relegation situation in Durham & Northumberland Division 1 was still up in the air on Saturday after TECH's game against Redcar was abandoned when referee Stewart CLAYTON suffered an ankle injury and found himself unable to continue. At that stage of the encounter TECH were leading 5-7 through a 15th minute try from winger Richard FOSTER which was converted by Jon COLE. After 25 minutes the home side hit back when they went blind from an attacking scrum and drove over for an unconverted try.

Mr CLAYTON had already gone over on his ankle once resulting in him receiving treatment before he again went down. He decided he was unable to continue and with no other referee being available had no other option than to abandon the contest.

With TECH having a high number of unavailability's next Saturday they offered to play the game mid -week under the home sides lights. Redcar are due to contact TECH to let them know if this is suitable to them.

The other game affecting the relegation situation, North Shields v Billingham didn't even get started as the referee deemed the pitch to be dangerous.
