Ilkley 28 Northern 24
By Stacks News - May 8 2008

Dalesmen dim Northern lights. Nightmare opening salvo turns into Ilkley dream as 7-0 deficit is brushed off to clinch place in North 2. Tries from Sibanda, Vincent and Brewer with goals from Cadman just shade out a Northern side that ranks amongst the best encountered in Ilkley's league campaign. Liam Frost, creator of the first try, is carried off with severe damage to collar bone. Celebrations continue long into the night as Dalesmen reach uncharted waters. >

Yorkshire Shield Semi
Dalesmen prove there is strength in depth, real grit and determination mixed with lashings of pride as undefeated Brods are pegged back from 18 - 0 to hold on by a solitary point. Brods go through to Shield final in 3 weeks time. Ilkley can now take a well-earned rest and reflect on a job well done. They can consider themselves a trifle unlucky it wasn't their day and their final place. >
Annual Awards Sat May 31
Ilkley’s annual dinner has fallen victim to the unavailability of suitable dates. The annual awards will therefore be presented at a special awards luncheon to be held on Saturday May 31st. It will be an informal lunch with Pauline and Elaine’s famous summer buffet on offer. The bar will open throughout and charge “happy hour” prices. The function will start at 12.30 a.m. for a 1.30 p.m. lunch, followed by the awards presentation. The ticket price for the event will be £5 per person. >
Junior Awards
Sunday saw the awards for the junior and youth section of the club. Players from age six to 18 were there in force to receive awards from Leeds Carnegie star & Samoan international Fosi Pala'amo. The enthusiasm for the game and the comradeship it inspires was evident for all to see. These young players are a credit to the club, their parents, and their colleagues. This year, for the first time, awards were handed out to the Ilkley girls’ team. >
